So then peeps, its been a long long long time since I was on here.
How the devil is everyone and what has been going on
Whos still here and whos not :eusa-think:
Is jassy still on the naughty table, what about Ron the old git whats he up to
Looks like RCZ1 is still polishing away like a nutter
And good old Mrrizzle is still on the board of guvners

Lots has happened down here in the valleys, the RCZ has gone  sold it about 3 months ago privately.

I then bought a brand new Renault Kadjar Signature, they only came out in October, I had it for a week and it went back with a fault, 6 weeks on it was still in the dealers, so after some "discussion" I had a full refund, worst 6 weeks of owning a car in my life.
So basically the last few weeks I've been looking for something new, I've gone from the Audi Q3 S-Line quatro (bit bland inside especially compared to the RCZ), to the Mercedes GLA AMG line (cracking looking car but very noisy diesel), VW Scirroco (starting to look a bit dated).
I did fancy a SUV type car after the RCZ, but since driving the Kadjar and others like the Sportage, Mokka, GLA, Q3, new Suzuki Vitara, I realised that they're not for me so I've gone back to looking for a car.
At the moment I'm considering the Volvo V40 T3 R-Design Lux, with a few added extras, (old habits die hard), its a lovely car with lots of toys.
Volvo have an offer at the moment to get your engine Re-mapped by Polestar, so that's very enticing. .
The boy sold his trusty beamer and bought a cracking Alfa Giulietta QV line.

Health wise as some of you know was a bit dodgy, and still is

The whole family have gone through tough times, we lost my mother, which is still very raw, and my fathers in & out of hospital at the moment .
Vickys dad hasn't been too good and our nephew was involved in a serious car crash which has left him with brain injuries, he's only 18, a lovely kid, so sad.
So things haven't been too good hence me sort of going missing from here.

I'm still working in the same place, and I still trying to give a bit of BANTER.............. :p

So anyway that's me sort of done, hope everyone's been ok , and I'll try to pop in when I can.

Jactac, it's good to hear from you.

Sorry to hear about your troubles health wise and private life. I hope things become a bit better soon.

With regards to your car, my OH has just bought the new Volvo XC90. His first Volvo but he is very very happy with it. As you say it's got loads of toys. In fact, it's rather too clever for its own good. He is looking into getting the Polestar remap and suggests it's the best thing to do.

Let us know how you get on :)

Welcome back.

Hope your son is enjoying his Alfa. If it's his first, he'll be hooked.

Yeah my son always fancied an Alfa, and I have to say its a lovely car to look at and drive, he's got the paddle shift gears so that took me a bit of getting used :eusa-think:
The sound from the twin exhaust is just beautiful.

Hi Kerry,
Yeah we've had a rocky few months and things are still not great, in fact looking back the last 4 years have been a nightmare, not just my health issue but also other family members , getting laid off 3 times in a year, then losing both my mother and mother in law in a space of 16 months, both from pancreatic cancer, my nephew had this terrible car crash, and now my father is laid up in hospital for at least 8 weeks and Vicky's not good in herself either.

Every time we say "nothing else can go wrong", yep something else goes wrong !
We've stopped saying it now just in case..........
Who said life was great ?
I need a chat with that person.

So anyway the Volvo V40.
To be honest it was the last car I considered, but after taking test drives in the Q3 and the Mercedes GLA I was not that impressed on either of them, and my experience with the Renault, well it was a joke if I'm honest.
Lovely car to drive (Kadjar Signature) and a great colour Flame Red, and rammed with all the toys, but the electrics let it down (typical Renault), and it just had to back, basically, the alarm would constantly sound for no reason and features kept disappearing from the media system.
The car is still sitting in the dealers with all the door cards off, the dash is almost taken out completely, a new alarm fitted, new media system, all new software, and its still not right, 8 weeks on !!!
I just had to get my money back.

I've had Volvo's years ago, so when I jumped in the V40 I was really impressed with how it looked and drove.
I've added a few optional packs (glass roof, rear styling kit, parking pilot, upgraded the alloys and some other bits), and I've gone back to Ice White
White finish, big black alloys, and a black shinny roof, now what does that remind me of :eusa-think:

Its also got a hard drive for music downloads just like the NG4 so that was also a decider.
Trying to find a new car with an on board Media Hard Drive is really hard, most just have a USB or SD card slot, out of all the test drives I done the Volvo was the only one to match the NG4 system.

By the way,
When I sold the RCZ it only had 14350 miles on the after owning it from new for four and half years, it was still immaculate with FSH, but I only just scrapped £11000 for it.
Some dealers were offering as low as £7500
I finally sold it on Gumtree to a lady from Bournemouth, she was absolutely thrilled with it, in fact she sold her newer TT because of problems to buy an older RCZ.

I wonder if I have your wheels then, as I bought them from a lady in Bournemouth.
From a mk1 black with silver arches. They are 19" Sortilege wheels in silver.

Kez, you mention your OH is considering Polestar on his XC 90 , I had all sorts of performance issues with mine 3 years ago when it was new ,eventually had Polestar which changed the vehicle beyond recognition in performance ( and done by Volvo free of charge) , we have an excellent Volvo dealer in Exeter. We have the two ideal vehicles for us , XC 90 and the RCZ R.

We have matching cars all round lol :)

I've told my OH what you have said so this has made him even more determined to get the Polestar upgrade

Isn't the Volvo small tho? Or maybe you prefer that?

My brother parked his 2015 5-door Fiesta next to one of those V40's and the Fiesta was actually bigger, atleast on the outside!

I actually think it looks a bit on the long side :eusa-think:
It cant be smaller inside than the RCZ though surely .

Heres some dimensions for comparison.

Volvo V40 R-Design : Length 4369 mm, Width 1857 mm (inc mirrors 2041 mm), Height 1420 mm

RCZ : Length 4294, Width 1845mm (inc mirrors 2107mm) , Height 1359

2015 5 Door Ford Fiesta : Length 3969mm, Width 1722mm (inc mirrors 1973mm), Height 1495mm

The RCZ and the V40 are not that different in external dimensions.
Inside the V40 is bigger in the back as its a 5 door car.

Looks can be deceiving .
