So, I had probably the worst insult thrown at me today...
" Is that your Aldi TT ?" ...
I didn't rise to the comment but I had a chuckle to myself afterwards..

I call Audis, Aldis.

Someone once asked if mine was a Vauxhall once...
Usually it just gets called a girl's car, or a hairdresser's car. Strangely by people who drive slower cars..

Last time I was getting some good mannered abuse from someone with a diesel Passat I had to burst his balloon when he thought because it was only a 1.6 his car could keep up. So I pointed out it had 200bhp and did 147 mph.

When I mentioned the close ratio gearbox, larger front hubs, anti roll bars and 340mm front brakes he glazed over so I left it.

In our wild Western Spanish village, there are not a lot of motoring enthusiasts, and even fewer with any knowledge, so to speak. :sleeping-yellow:
So, when the Zero gets an airing there are open mouths and staring eyes, followed later by the odd question.
Often it is "Is it a Morgan?", which, perhaps strangely, is the only two seater open sports many have heard of. :?
But best of all, and who am I to contradict (har, har), is the insistence of some to refer to it as the Ferrari.
Tee hee! Smug grin! :) :)

A couple of young lads were talking to each other (loudly) one day when I was out washing the Z, they were saying it looked like a cheap Ferrari, I actually thought that wasn’t a bad comment, but an older lad from down the street said to them, what are you talking about, his car is worth more than your house.

I hope he still thinks that when he turns 17 & wants to buy a car

Anyone who takes a cheap shot at the Z are just plain jealous! There’s not many cars that turn heads nowadays especially for the money you can buy a Z for.

I've had that being thrown at me. My response was: "Yes, she is the sexy sister to the ugly TT" :greetings-wavingblue:

My first one was called a travesty by some random stranger when he saw me filling it with diesel.

Not quiet the worst name called but I flipped this on it's head one day.....

Where I used to live the house next door was often frequented by lovers of liquid from gold coloured cans or green bottles who commonly didn't know a mini from a Rolls Royce.
One fine day such youth came over as I pulled up in my Z, from over the wall came the comment....

" That's a nice motor mate what is it? "

Needless to say I wasn't very honest with my reply to my not so liked fellow human...

" A Ferrari "

" Yeah thought so mate looks expensive " was his reply.

I know I shouldn't have done but I couldn't help myself ! but hey with the curves and roof and stance it could be any sport car if not for the badge. Either way I love my car - no matter it's got a lion on the front and not a prancing horse.

Cheers

Once upon a time, I indulged in throwing some dosh at a project to create a Brooklands Riley replica.
Good solid new steel chassis and fibreglass rear body section, nose and wings, Triumph suspension and a Ford crossflow lump, Escort Mk I transmission and axle.
So not really trying to fool anyone!
Chap pulls up, comes over, grinning and cocky.
"Wos that supposed to be mate?".
Thought I'd play him along a little bit.
"1936 Brooklands Riley", says I.
He walks around it scratching his chin.
"Must be tricky getting the parts then, nowadays", was his words of wisdom.
Difficult to come up with an answer, so just ignored him and he went away.
