Can anyone enlighten me as to why renewable wiper blade arms for such as those on the RCZ

are so costly? I regard such cost as a rip-off. The wearing strip of rubber that needs replacement

in the wiper arm cannot surely cost more than 1 new penny (each) to manufacture and those metal

wiper blade replacement shroud / holders could be manufactured for ease of the rubber strip

replacement.

Capitalism & market forces, they'll charge what the market will bear. There's no hard and fast relationship between what something costs to develop and manufacturer compared to the price charged to the customer. This is true in products other than wiper blades.

Non oem blades may be cheaper but may not perform as well or for as long, or may be just as good. Trouble is knowing which is which, whereas oem items are more likely to be of a known quality...but you pay for the privilege.

Supply & demand I'm afraid. And also a captive market. It's not like you can use something else, so while there is a demand for a specific item, the price of that item will reflect that, rather than the actual manufacturing costs.

Conversely, certain items become cheaper the more people buy them, eg. When a "new" TV format is developed, 4k for example, the price is sky high until they become more popular, then the price will drop to reflect the number of this type of TV being sold.

But as far as wiper blades go, the only real choice is between third party manufacturers, or oem, it's not like we can do without them.

Get the far superior Bosch ones from RCZperformance's site and you'll have a far superior wiper at a far cheaper price. Boom! Stupidly easy to replace...and you can test the wiper servicing function.

You could always have a go at replacing the rubber yourself.
Ebay has a few replacement rubbers, it shouldnt be too hard to find the right type.

Costly? if you just measure the length of the blade (I thought 650mm) and order them online via ebay or so.

I just payed 26€ for 2 bosch wiperblades ordered at mister-auto.be
