Wheel tracking

After asking the local dealer to check my tracking (because the car seems to drift slowly to the left:which could possibly be due to tyre sensitivity to road camber-any thoughts?) I was told that the RCZ could not be correctly tracked using standard methods and would have to be checked using specialist peugeot gear which simulates a fully loaded car and would cost an hour's labour! My tyres do not show any obvious " out of track" wear. Has anybody had any experience of this.

Don't forget that the car (all UK cars) will have a certain "natural drift" to the left.

If you think that yours is a bit more pronouned that this, usually accompanied by a little steering wheel wobble, then you can take it to any garage to get it balanced.
After balancing, if you still think that there is a problem, then go for the tracking. Again, anywhere can do this.

I do strongly suggest avoiding any / all Branches of Kwik Fit, as in my experience, they really will make a bad job of it.

Good Luck, as this can be a very annoying problem.

I'm with Gormwell here. I would the balancing checked first as they may be incorrectly weighted. This is a quick and easy thing to have checked. If this isn't found to be the cause THEN I'd say take it to the dealers but I wouldn't be rushing to pay an hour's labour until I'd had this checked first. Keep us posted.

It is only a slight drift to the left with no wheel wobble. Why is there a slight drift to left for uk cars. I didn't know about that? The wheels have been balanced recently and there. is no steering wheel wobble Thanks for the advice.

The slight drift to the left is due to the camber of the road. UK roads clearly slope off to the left in order that surface water can drain to the road side and into the drain gulleys. Hence all cars have a slight tendency to follow this curve if not corrected.

Next time you're going through a contraflow you should experience a drift to the right instead. If not then let your dealer know and ask them to investigate further.

Again thanks for the advice. I was guessing it was something to do with the camber. I'll check it on the outside lane when safe to do so .

I've owned my 11 plate 200gt for 5 weeks. I to have experienced a slight drift to the left. Took it back to the peugeot dealer and had it checked by their mechanics. Results were OK.Tracking and tyres wear were normal. The only explanation was the cambre of the road.

This is the, conclusion I have come to especially as the tyre wear all round is pretty even. I can only guess that the steering is more sensitive than previously owned cars. I do very little motorway driving so perhaps this is how I have noticed it more. Again thanks everyone.
