Wheel Cleaner

It looks like I've got one more application of Autoglym Wheel Cleaner left in the bottle. What would people recommend I buy next as a replacement?

Also do you guys have a seperate bucket for the wheels? Or do you just one of the 2 buckets and then give it a clean out in between?

Hi Catherine

I have 2 buckets for the wheels and another 2 buckets for the paintwork. All are clearly marked as to what they are to be used for.

With regards to wheel cleaner. I don't possess one and never have. May I suggest you use a sealant on your alloys to protect them. I use Gtechniq C5 which protects your alloys for up to 2 years. A power wash down and then shampoo and water is all you need.

Sealing and cleaning alloys is my least favourite job therefore C5 has been a life saver for me as well as a time saver. I love it

Agree strongly - it's SOOOOO boring!

I use 1 bucket for wheels and 1 bucket with grit guard for rest of car (although if you're doing it pro-detailer style you should use two)

I use Bilberry wheel cleaner to remove brake dust/crud and then Chemical Guys Wheel Guard to seal the wheels (as above it makes it REALLY easy to remove stuff at the next wash)

Whatever you do though, DON'T use Wonderwheels - it will eat your alloys! :wtf:

For wheel cleaner I have used Muc off motorcycle cleaner. Used it for years. It makes grease, dirt, oil come off with ease. It is not corrosive and can be used on any type of surface.

If you shop around on ebay, M&p motorcycle accessories or busters accessories you can buy the large 5ltr type ones on a buy one get one free at about £20.

Fantastic stuff.

Here's an example of how good Gtechniq C5 is.

Yesterday I washed the car for the first time in a month. The wheels were thick with dirt and brake dust. Here's pictorial evidence of how a power wash down and shampoo and water is all you need, once protected with C5.

C5 was applied to these wheels exactly 1 year ago today!

Dirt wheel

50/50 of half a power washed wheel

Finished wheel after agitation with shampoo and water
