Prepare to be enlightened!

Black cars more likely to be involved in an accident

Drivers of black cars claim to be better in bed than other motorists – that’s according to colour psychologists who have been studying car colours and their drivers. But before London’s black cab drivers start polishing their egos, the crucial word in that sentence is 'claim'. And besides, the study commissioned by Flexed.co.uk also found that black cars are more likely to be involved in an accident. Still, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

The study of 1,550 drivers found that drivers of black cars were “dangerous and rebellious”, which is why it’s a popular choice for executive cars. It’s also a pain to keep clean. Not that the owners will care, because they’ll be spending more time in bed…

White cars are reflective of a modern lifestyle

If you want to avoid a crash, you’d be better off choosing a silver car, although you’ll obviously want to give oncoming black cars a wide berth. White is a popular colour for new cars because it’s fashionable and reflective of a “modern lifestyle”. Given the results of the study, surely a black and white car would mean you were fashionably good in bed?

A white car is said to be reflective of a driver’s desire to have the latest products, mirroring the appeal of certain Apple products. It’s also the colour of most washing machines and dishwashers. And we all know how desirable they are.

Drivers of red cars really do drive faster

We all know that red cars are fastest, right? Apparently this perception extends to most drivers, who believe that – thanks to their look-at-me visibility – they’re more likely to seen, therefore reducing the chance of an accident. We dread to think what would happen if a red car met a black car at a junction.

A blue car will let you out of a junction

Drivers of blue cars are “happy and confident”. You couldn’t make it up, could you? Apparently you’re more likely to be let out of a junction by a blue car, too.

Silver car owners are responsible and mature

A silver car stands less chance of being involved in an accident and also uses less fuel. Which could suggest that owners of silver cars are more likely to leave them parked on the driveway, choosing to take the bus instead.

Brown cars: dull and introverted?

Drivers of brown cars are “dull and introverted” and more likely to be the victim of an accident. With a black car, presumably.

Green cars are said to be more rebellious!

Right, we’re stretching the realms of reality here now. A green car apparently represents “rebellion”. So come the next uprising, expect to see hoards of people in green Vauxhall Corsas making a stand against the state. The revolution starts here.
