So, on Wednesday my Z went into the main stealers for this years service (extended maintenance contract) and MOT.

Passed its MOT but was told front pads down to 2mm, water in brake fluid (last changed nearly 3 years ago) and cracks in auxiliary belt.

It’s booked in next week for all the bits doing, £201 which includes my 10% discount for having an EMC.

I have no idea if this sounds expensive or not, but I did want all the parts to be Peugeot originals.

Does this sound reasonable to you? :eusa-think:

I suppose main dealer price, to be expected really  obviously cheaper if you went to an independent garage and used pug parts.

Seems a bit on the expensive side, the only genuine Peugeot part will be the belt. None of the fitting will be difficult or require Peugeot tools - even your local Halfords / Quikfit / Garage can do this without any difficulty.

I reckon you could lower the cost slightly but down this way that price for parts and labour does not sound too bad to me.

If I had not bought a car with Extended Peugeot Warranty I would not be going anywhere near a Peugeot Dealership for any servicing as what I have experienced already (faulty HPFP and replacement) and the issues to apparently get the part and it to be fixed and returned to me by a local-ish dealer was absolutely dire. Have booked mine in at another dealer so will now see if this is a trend, luckily it is an annual service and I have selected for it be undertaken while I wait (and hopefully watch).

The dealer that undertook my warranty claim said they would be in touch as they were going to replace another item under warranty that was weeks ago and I have heard absolutely nothing apart from text messages asking me to book a service with them at extortionate prices. I always use third party specialists for the make/model of the car but then I have always had older cars, used Vauxhall year's ago when I bought the VX and to be honest had much the same main dealer experience i.e lack of knowledge of specialist vehicle and being fleeced.

If it's Evans Halshaw they charge over £100 labour so that's going to be half of the cost...

They quoted me £105 per hour labour, but because of the emc I get it for £85.

I also booked my car in for a “while you wait” service, but, as happened exactly the same last year, when I got there, they had no record of my booking, and as last year, blamed the call centre. As they only had 2 technicians on that day (I’m sure they used to be mechanics) they said if I still wanted it doing that day it wouldn’t be ready until after 5pm (I got there at just after 8.15 am). I didn’t really have much choice as I only had a few days left on my MOT so I left it with them. I gave instructions I didn’t want the car washing as I had just waxed it & they commented it looked immaculate.
When I collected it, they had sprayed screenwash over the entire car (testing screen and headlamp washers for the mot I assume). They had left it to run and dry over the car, so I had to wash it again when I got home.

At least unlike last year there was no spilled oil over the engine or greasy hand marks all over the bodywork.

There would be no way I would ever use this garage if it wasn’t for the warranty

A work colleague of my wife bought a 208 GTI from them. Just out of warranty he had major engine issues. The repairs cost him over £3k. Despite promises to the contrary they tried to charge over £100 for the courtesy car they let him have while they had his in for repair. I believe the dispute is still ongoing.

They offered to do the work the same day, but they said they only had 3rd party parts in stock

A Peugeot Main Dealer, who only has 3rd party parts in stock, go figure :(

Took around a week (so they said) for them to source the metal fuel pipe that is replaced at the time of the pump change! None in stock and they are one of the biggest dealerships in the country?!

Every time I’ve phoned them directly I have been put through to the Vauxhall’s desk, despite asking for Peugeot service.
You cannot get them to put you through to the Peugeot desk, it’s like they resent Peugeot being there now as it’s always been a Vauxhall dealership. The problems have got much worse since they closed the Peugeot only garage and split their Vauxhall dealership in two.
The first time I spoke with them, they insisted I had a Vauxhall despite my Z having been serviced by them since I bought it. (My private reg was on a Vauxhall many years ago & @ 3 cars ago).

I mentioned my light issue (on another thread) and asked if they could have a quick look at it if I take it to them for the brakes etc. They said it was £75 diagnostic whatever the issue turned out to be. This is to cover their technicians time apparently.

When I first started going to their Peugeot dealership, it was £50 diagnostic, and this was knocked off the price of any subsequent repair. Now it’s £75 up front, and it doesn’t come off the cost of any repairs.
