What do you like and dislike about your job?

The only thing I liked about my job was that it gave me the opportunity to retire at the age of 48.
I worked until I was 49 - yes I know - I am a martyr.
I have been retired for 6 years and still LOVE IT.
The thing I can't understand is that folk just get caught in the "I love money' trap.
What is the point of being the richest person in the grave yard.
Enjoy it while you can.
There are plenty of places in the world where you don't need to much £ to live (The UK is not one of them)
And most of them are warmer, friendlier and safer.
Tomorrow I will wash and polish Peggy, then pull up some more potatoes.
At least I won't have to watch England lose again - I just hope that Portugal win on Sunday night or I could be
practising my heil ! (and no one wants to see that).
My advice is to only work as long as you really need to then ENJOY what you have earned.
Sagres rules.

The best job I ever had was unpaid !!! I was a domestic engineer ? ( house husband ) looking after our two girls, did this for many years, then returned to work part time. then when I was made redundant I thought sod it and retired, like O Lustanian said enjoy it while you can

The enjoyable thing about my job is the people in the office & the customers i speak to on the phone but the most enjoyable thing is looking out of my office window at my Z especially on a day like today :)

Thanks RCZash, well it's for work but work is kind of play too. Im shooting a video presentation / tutorial for a games company... but I get x2 days off for fun. Exchange rate is really good at the mo so means shopping time ;-)
I still get nervous parking my car and leaving it... worried of it getting scratched / damaged etc. I keep looking out my window every few minutes checking its ok hahah.
The novelty on my other cars wore off a long time ago.

well I'm A health and safety manager.
What i like about the job:
I get to meet a lot of different people and make a lot of friends
i get to teach a few things i wish I'd known before i broke my back!
that what i do could save a life or at least stop a lot of pain.
what i don't like:
stupid safety people who don't know what they are doing and enforce silly rules like goggles when playing conkers!
mad fools who believe they are able to fly and don't need a harness a 90m in the air.
mad bosses who believe a safety man is there to keep insurance companies happy!!!

Diggerd
Do i save lives? god knows, but i do my bit! :eusa-whistle:

Sorry diggard, The bane of my job and any job that I have ever had is the health and safety culture. Nobody is going to look after my health anf safety better than myself. My last employer merely used H&S as a disciplinary tool. In the main H&S is all about claim avoidance and nothing to to do with protecting the workforce.

I have to back Ron up.
Whatever happened to being responsible for your own actions (in all aspects of life).
If your employer is telling you to something that is dangerous don't do it.
If you are considering doing something that is dangerous - don't - or accept the risks.
If you don't know that you are doing something dangerous perhaps you should have paid
more attention at school.
I remember getting a course on how to lift a box and what about the signs on the hot water
taps warning you that hot water will come out !

i agree with both of you!! funny you think? a safety man that doesn't preach> and you have hit the nail on the head!
safety is about understanding the risks you are asked to do that you may not understand.. lifting a box, well you should understand that if its too heavy you get help!! At 26 i thought i was superman! i could lift anything you asked me too!!! oh except that box that just tore my spine apart... eerrm didn't know i had a limit!! and as i said employers do it for other reasons than looking after their work force. if you worked with me you'd know what i'm talking about. its your behavior that dictates your safety, and i back my friends when they need to say no to the boss.
Its the fools in safety that have put us where we are.. Do i give up.. Nah fight on beat the fools and encourage you to do what you know is right!!
