Was I wrong to walk away?

I thought I had found my perfect RCZ. I(sent my brother in law a retired mechanic to view on my behalf., Car was beautiful but on removing carpets in the boot looking for crash damage he found a huge pool of water. He had some knowledge of these vehicles and knew an owner who had boot seals replaced twice and still had the problem
Can people post their experiences to whether a design problem , drainage blockage because I can't get the car out of my head

I don’t have any water in the boot, I last was in at the spare area less than two weeks ago, and hope it’s the same today.
i have had a few RCZ’s in the household over the years and can’t recall any of them letting in water.
We have had plenty of rain to test the seals the last while back. Don’t know how much water was in the one you looked at but only thing I noticed was that on a rainy day when you opened the boot water from the lid would trickle onto the boot carpet.
Only a suggestion, if the car you were looking at had the active spoiler, maybe the drains in its parking recess were blocked.

Be interesting to have a yeah or nay pole see if it is a common thing.

I haven’t had any issues. The try and make sure the drain holes around the car are running free. They seem to be ok in the boot area and at the bottom of the windscreen. If there are others to check let me know please. Think there’s a small one at the filler flap. It seems to be ok although I’ve never cleaned it out 🫣

Check the rubber stopper in the wheel well its the only other issue for possibly water ingress ruling out blocked waterways drains etc as the water is thrown up under the boot as per the Height of the car going through floods etc

I have had two RCZ's a 156 and now a 200 I have not had water in the boot more than a few drops when opening the lid in rain. I did open the boot a couple of weeks ago when the window was covered in frozen snow and a large area dropped into the boot by sliding under the raised lid but lifted it out and took the carpet out and dried it in the house, I'll clear any snow off in future!
