Hi,
My 2013 THP 200 is in the garage with dead engine, waiting for confirmation but may have a snapped camshaft?
Don’t know any more that that, but is there any out there for sale?
Thanks

Ouch, not a fouled sensor or such then, not good news, feel for you.
Before you go buying a cam, what else got damaged along the way, I think you might be better awaiting confirmation of any other items like valves, piston tops, cam bearing caps etc. I I think I would want to know why? Ie timing chain fault, spun bearing etc. You could stick a new cam in for it to be a symptom and not the cause. Ask your tech to let you know what he has found as full extent, and probable cause, it may be that a replacement head is the right option or worse full engine if yours can’t be built.

A faulty injector can let a drop too much fuel in and run the cylinder lean, hot spotting a valve, valve breaks off stem, piston gives it a nudge and something has to give somewhere. Just one of many scenarios. If you can push for confirmation of cause, could save you money on the parts cannon.

As for the cam, they are not that expensive new, just which one.
Have heard no bad of aftermarket being used on rebuilds when worn, just nothing on longevity known.

Hi Eddie,
thanks for the reply,
yes will wait, engine turns over fine, no noises or bad sounds, and even when it just died, no bad sounds, hope to be there when he takes the rocker cover off.

Good luck, ps might be a loose Vanos bolt from not torquing enough or when a tiny amount of oil on its mating surface.

So, it looks like I need a new variable valve actuator, as you can see from attache, the notched cam should back against the pin, my guy is unable to make it move, it’s part 16 on the attached
has anyone got a thp200 engine they are breaking?
thanks
