Want an RCZ but your'e scaring me off

Been looking for a "200" in Sheffield. Low miles and mint. Cash. White referred.
Getting scared off by all the faults the forum members report. Are they really this unreliable ?

I had 1 oil sensor fault in 2 1/2 years 10mins fix gt200 most reliable car I ever had :)

I would be a bit scared if a forum didn't have any threads about faults ;) Its the main use of a forum. Most people only sign up to either read up on a problem, or report one. Hardly any sign up for the opposite :)

i've had 2 from new. A GT200 and now an R. - That's 3 1/2 years of ownership.

Never had any of the faults you're so worried about & writing this from next to Lake Como in Italy after driving here in my R.

I agree with Abzynthe enjoy the car for what it is, a fantastic, exhilarating, need more and more of it.

Yes it has faults (but tell me a vehicle that will not have any faults), some afflict cars with all manor of faults, and some cars get none, but the faults get fixed (that's the point).

It's a pleasure to drive/look at.

Hopefully I have one that doesn't have too many faults, but I still love it.

If the rcz chooses you then you haven't got much option. :eusa-whistle:

Go on you know you want to. Being on here gives you an added bonus of being aware of when things start to go wrong. Most people get an rcz and then panic when things go wrong then look on here to see if anyone else has had the same or similar problems.

Like you d_t, I was particularly nervous about buying an RCZ after ready about fault elements here and on other sites. Took me a year to pluck up the courage but now wish I'd done it sooner. I've been unlucky with tyres/wheels but if I'm honest that could have happened to any car with 19 inch rims! Take the plunge, you won't regret it!

I think that everything that the others has said is accurate and, if you consider it carefully, there are few reported faults really. There are issues with the timing chain, the temp sensor and, more rarely, the boot catch. This really is not an extensive list so I wouldn't be too concerned. My own problems were none if these things but rather the dealers around my area. I have since switched marques and can confirm that the grass is NOT greener on the other side. Take the plunge...the water is lovely.

I'd say no they are not. You have to remember its an internet forum and is the go to point for any owners who do have problems and not necessarily the place that owners who dont have any issues will come to.

Best idea is to buy it and set aside £300 for peugeots extended warranty. As long as the car is serviced and MOT'd on time the warranty is valid and a great cover for any issues that might arrise. :beer:

Im on my second one.... and when / if the time comes for bairns and "I" need to get a sensible car Ill be buying the missus an RCZ as her occasional steer :lol:

Well I just took the plunge and took deliver of a 14 plate RCZ.
All that has been said above is true.
Ideally get your car from a Pug dealer, and get an extended warranty for piece of mind.

Over the years I've had many cars of many marques, and joined the corresponding forum.
Generally people come to these forums to either 'big up' their pride and joy (and why not when it comes to the RCZ), or to see how to improve/customise/personalize/mod their car, or to fix faults they find. There are always many people looking for help with faults. If you think say German cars are more reliable - go and look at the TT forum for example.

All cars have issues at some point or other - big or small. If you go to any car forum you will find people asking for help. That does not mean the RCZ is inherently a lemon.

Go on, you know you want one. :eusa-whistle:

My Z is the 5th car I have ever owned - 4 of them have been from new, including this one.

Whilst I have had the greatest number of issues with this car .... it is also the one that I have enjoyed the most! It always makes me smile when I see it sat in the drive / car park, it brightens even my grumpiest days... and the way it turns peoples heads will never become dull!

Buy it!!!!! (and warranty too!)

Like someone said before people like to moan about stuff if it goes wrong but if it works fine they don't bother reporting about it. Look on any car forum and there's more negatives than positives. :thumbup:

I've had mine a total of 3 days now, and to be perfectly honest, if it went wrong tomorrow, I would still be glad I bought it, I would be happy just going outside and looking at it on the drive :auto-car:

Think I'll get one then, just need to fit a loo and cooker in the garage and then i'll move in with it. :crazy:

If I hadn't just paid so much for mine, I would be getting quotes to get the front of the house removed, so I could get it into the lounge :lol:

I can just imagine sitting in the drivers seat on a night watching telly :shock:

White one for sale only a mile away from me...better go try it eh ? Not really considered one purely due to the 200 power output swaying me....not even tried one of those yet tho....need to decide need to decide............ short list was Kuga, focus 185 ecoboost, megane 250 cup or RCZ ....RCZ winning me on sheer beauty,,,,think im in love, :D
