Hey all.

I had my first puncture the other day. Couldnt be repaired and had to order a new tyre.
I could not believe the price. Cheapest I got was £250, these were the same tyres that I already had on them (continental sport 235/40 R19). Bit of a shock really ( I was expecting to pay £180 max).
Also first time I used the compressor and gunk. Was easy enough and thought it was ok.
Oh also another thing to consider is the price for the replacement tube, cost £30 from Peugeot
Anyone found any cheaper prices for tyres and replacement gunk tube ?

You have got a reasonable deal there :thumbup:

My local (to me) search revealed the prices anywhere between £250 and £280 (per tyre).
Then I finally found a well-known Garage (around by me anyway) that has a good name which is doing them this Thursday for £236 per tyre.

Jassy will be along in a minute to update that Jactac (another Forum Member) got his in the same area for £215.

£30 for the replacment "Gunk Machine" sounds right - it does have a tyre pressure checker built in as well.

the cheapest 40 profile someone on the forum was £215 its the silly 40 profile thats expensive as there aint that much choice with that profile just the highest premium brands mate :thumbdown: best go for a 35 profile when you have to replace both the next then you will them for £180 a corner :thumbup:

What is the average miles your Tyre can go before changing?

How long can they last?

Does anyone know the effect of the speedometer readings with 35 profile? Presumably it will report a slightly faster speed than 40 profile if you do not use the manufacturer recommended profile?

I guess it depends on how long you're keeping the motor for. Four 35's will likely set you back about £600-£650 whereas one 40 will be £250.
Personally, my car is on a 3 year deal so I will probably swap fronts on to the backs when they start wearing low. The amount of miles I rack up, I'll probably only have about 30-36K on the clock by then and I have a set of winter tyres that I use oct-mar, so i guess the summer tyres will have only done about 25-30K. (I don't drive like a maniac either). I'll ONLY buy a 35 if I have a burst.

I think it's only 3%, I did look it up online when I bought my winter tyres - they're 35s. It's not going to be enough for you to get done for speeding without knowing about it!!

One question that springs to mind ... can you mix profiles 'on the same axle' as they used to say?

I doubt it, there's a fair difference when you see a wheel with a 35 and one with a 40 'stood up' next to each other. You could mix back to front though - don't some beemers have that??

YOU could also go down the path of 245/35/19 with this size the 35% profile on a 245 wide tyre equates to a 40 profile on a 235/40 tyre and again this size is cheaper than 235/40/19 as this profile was designed for the rcz hence its rare :wtf:

Hi all, not posted for ages. On the subject of tyres I have just replaced my RCZ fronts with "budget" tyres after my contis died after 9k miles (first set of contis lasted 14k miles). I have just paid £160 approx for 2 budget tyres plus £5 postage. Had em fitted at my local tyre emporium for £10 a tyre!. I was sceptical to say the least about going for budgets on the RCZ but after having them on my mx5 and being impressed I took the plunge again. To date I have not been disappointed.
