Turbo doesn't really kick

Guys,

I have had my RCZ 156 for a few weeks now. I am a little disappointing in the performance but I say that as I think it needs a terraclean (44k miles) . Now, I have never driven an RCZ before now so I have nothing to compare it against. I thought the turbo would kick in a lot more but it's more of a progressive acceleration. Is this normal? Does it need the Terraclean or should I be feeling the "pull" of the turbo more?

If you think it has carbon build up, terraclean won't help.

I was hoping no one would say that. It's quite stuttery up the revs too. Any ideas bud?

It could be carbon build up.
The only thing that will work is for it to be stripped down and media blasted.
Usually walnut shells.

Sounds expensive.

It's going in tomorrow to a Terraclean specialist for some other non related work. The guy said he would look and let me know where the build up is, if any at all and what would need to be done.

I was wondering if anyone had the same symptoms as me.

I wouldn’t say the turbo gives a big kick it is more of a progressive boost obviously depends on how much boot you give it and what gear your in, if your not getting smooth power and you say stuttering at high revs it is probably a coil pack going down easy cheap fix and quite common :thumbup:

A coil pack now? I'll need to research that one. Geezo, I've already had to change the timing kit and some aircon sensor relay. Been nothing but money this thing....But it looks toooooo good and easily forgivable.

Ideally you want to see some live data, maybe it will point you in the correct direction.
Guessing can be expensive.

Terra clean did absolutely nothing. £160 down the drain. Don't know if they even did the job and no way of knowing.

I have now ordered all Bosch.......
Oil filter 1 457 429 249
fuel filter 0 450 902 161
air filter F 026 400 219
Bosch Ignition Coil for BMW, Citroen, Peugeot & Mini - 0221504470 x4
Spark plugs Bosch 0242 135 518 Iridium Ignition Spark Plug ZR7SI332S x4
TOTAL Quartz Ineo First 0w30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil,

The reason behind that is no service history after 12k miles for this shit storm. I'm gonna do the service myself as I don't trust no one do do the job right except Peugeot right now.

If anyone has any advice as to why my Z is chugging I would love to know.

Why dont you Go for a dyno run to See how the car performs?

Maybe you Just have higher expectations than you should
The truth is that you should feel the turbo kick at around 2500rpm but Nothing extraordinary and Just a progressive accelaration til 5500rpm

It's the intermittent stuttering when accelerating coupled with these error codes that I just found out about.

Camshaft Position Sensor needs replacing. Maybe the temp sensor too. Get those sorted and you won't believe you're driving the same car! :thumbup:

2retro, coincidence? probably not. With regards to the temp sensor. What part is this? The fan relay by any chance

I can only tell you I had the same symptoms and it was diagnosed under warranty by Peugeot as a faulty Camshaft Position Sensor. They changed it and all was good again. Then less than 5000 miles later the exact same sensor went again. Car was out of warranty by then so had to play merry hell with the main dealers to get it replaced at cost price. I can only assume these particular sensors a absolute shite if they pack up after a few thousand miles!

Don't know which temp sensor was playing up and replaced as that was done because of a recall on it due to another faulty part.

Seeing a pattern developing here?

On the plus side though when these sensors are working correctly the car goes like an absolute rocket so I can only hope these ones last...

Thank you bruv. Yeah there is a pattern. I knew this little car wasn't producing what it should. My old mini cooper (non S) would wipe the floor with this up the gears the way it sits right now. This has been one thing after another and no one can give a definitive answer as to what it is that's wrong. It's getting punted asap.

Just another suggestion :crazy: my local pug head mechanic said a faulty HP fuel pump always throws up a fault on #4 cylinder?? :eusa-think:

Just to update incase anyone else has this issue. Got the timing Chain replaced yesterday and the tractor noise at start up has gone and so has the lack of power through the gears. No more misfiring and it now pulls the way I thought it would've. While they had the thing apart they noticed the pully and the water pump was goosed so got that replaced also.

£804 later it's like driving a different car to be honest.
