TPMS problems.

Oh what a joyful morning I have had!

after destroying 4 wheels with those dreaded kerbs (my fault as i cant drive!) I decided to have the wheels refurbed, whilst waiting for my holiday, when the cars not needed, I came across turbobear selling his wheels at a bargain price.
and then play with the old ones with some custom colours.
so this morning i decided to pop into my local trusted tyre fitter, who understands my concerns with jacking points and is equipped with a 4 point lift, and ask for two new tyres and swap the wheels, easy i thought, " do you have the new sensors sir" "no" " oh then we cant do it as we cannot remove the old ones without cutting the stems" ok i'll change to normal valves and sort it at a later date? " sorry sir that would then make your car illegal as it would be an MOT failure" and my options " take it to Peugeot mate"

Any ideas?

Why do you need new sensors? I've had cars before with tpms and never needed new sensors at tyre swap time?

Update.

this is what I was told by the local tyre company that i trusted!!! note TRUSTED no more.

if i had kept my old wheels and had new tyres it is no problem at the moment!
I say at the moment because these sensors have a battery which has a life span of 5 yrs then the battery dies and so the sensor will need replacing.

what I wanted was to put new wheels on,
tyre fitter said.
we cannot remove the sensor as they are one part with the sensor and we will have to cut the stem to pull it through the wheel. this is untrue.
the stem screws into the sensor with a t6 screw, the replacement stems are £6 from peugeot and simply replace the existing valve! its simple.

new wheels fitted later today at a cost of £50 including stems!

True the stem is a separate part from the TPS. We recommend replacing the stems each time you replace the tyres, as you do with normal stems. The only time the sensors might be of concern is if the design on the inside of the wheel doesn't allow for them to fit.
