I have to say really enjoyed tonight's episode of Top Gear. They actually tested "normal" every day cars, which is very rare for them.
They should do more episodes like this. They tend to get too hung up on super cars, that the majority of people have no chance of ever owning. Nice to see some "sensible" cars for a change.

Quite impressed with the Kia Cee'd parking itself. Not sure that I'd trust it myself but I suppose once you got used to it.....

Yeah it was a good one. KIA self parking was amazing, and so easy but you'd have to try it out somewhere discreet. Holds up well to knocks too  I'm loving the series!

I wish top gear would have a better balance between silly and informal last nights had the balance right and made for one of the better episodes.

Aye bring back the days of Tiff and Tony Mason when they actually reviewed 'normal' new cars, last week was much better when they reviewed the GT86 and BRZ. Supercar jaunts are all very well but they should limit them to their 'special's ...how many of us can actually afford the supercars anyway!

I don't really look at it as a general car review show anymore. I see it as entertainment/infotainment and therefore don't expect much reasonableness on there. I just find them hilarious so tune in every week like its my religion :geek: I'm sad I know

Me too, love the show but it's really about the 3 of them having fun and their interest in cars is the glue that the show is built around. Fifth Gear covers more normal ground but, personally, I don't find it as watchable.

I loved the Focus ST laughing in its rear view mirror at the vxr and the megane 265  clarckson had the cheek to slate its interior  as its Interior is superior to both the VXR/265RS The Focus ST3 is £3,000 cheaper than both the slower lesser equipped cars :wtf: Doesnt make sense but as i have said its a giant killer of a car the Focus ST is the fastest car i have driven  and the new Kia cee'd is a fine handsome looking car but the price  not the bargains they used to be

Yes a very enjoyable top gear but it has been for the last 3 seasons

I too love the show. It's certainly not consumer advice for motoring but that's part of the things that makes it so enjoyable!!

As for the ST, Megane and Astra VXR...who's is having what?! I think i would still be swayed by an ST3 but that Astra did look awfully nice! Love that metallic blue shade too!!

Astra for me. In real world driving there's only a hair between them performance-wise, so I'd choose by looks and for me it's the Astra-Megane-Focus in that order.

Interesting!! See I think I'm really torn between the Astra VXR and the Focus ST. However, as i am thinking of changing to one of these when we start a family and i change the RCZ (some years away yet) from a practical point of view, the Focus might just win it with 5 doors. The Megane just doesn't do it for me. I think it's the interior. Very interested to learn how others view it though. It's all so subjective isn't it?! :eusa-think:

Indeed! And I should also add that my opinion may change if I test drove them. A car should "feel" right too, an X factor. My other car is an old Honda HR-V which does it for me, it puts a grin on my face like my RCZ and they couldn't be further apart!
