Tinted lights

Hello all. We have just had all the lights tinted on our RCZ. it was done my tintaglass.co.uk by Matt the owner. He used a product called spy vision. This is a mesh like film which has a honeycombe effect to it. it is quite a new product that he imports from the states. He has made a fantastic job on the car which was quite challenging as the lights are very curved. He placed the film on to the lighs & then heat shrinks it on to the light with perfection. I would recommend him to anyone thinking of having it done. he is also an expert at window tinting, carbon fibre, interior & exterior smart repairs & graphics. Spy vision film is legal as it dose not restrict the lights at all, & is one light tinting product that is legal & aproved by VOSA. i have uploaded a few pictures. let us know what you think.

My only question is WHY? Pleased that you are pleased, but I don't see the need or the point.

Personally it's not for me. I particularly like the sparkliness of the front lights - they really do gleam on the RCZ. I think I must have been a magpie in a previous life. :D

i think Ron by darkening the front lights it gives the front of the car a sportier look and a more defined look. the standard lights are a bit anemic looking and old fashioned in design being all chrome with no shading or internal housing tint, but tinting the lights this way is not to my taste.the rear lights are ok but i like the cherry red rears

i think you will see internal light housing tints in the headlamps when the rcz gets its next fascial

Is that legal to do it to the headlights? The rears are ok, but I think they'd look better on the black/charcoal versions......

Well, one thing is for sure..... It would be no good to me. I changed my RCZ because I thought that the standard headlights were not very efficient. So had to have the vision pack and the rear light cluster is another one of the RCZ's best features, Peugeot thought long and hard over the "lion Paw" design, So I couldn't and wouldn't mask either end

wont this affect the light output of all lights :?
No as it is a mesh & not a solid film it dose not restrict the lights at all. As I said before it is legal, approved by VOSA & would not fail a light test on a MOT. Thanks Wayne

Hello I should had said that even though the lights have the film over them you still get the glistening effect through it, that's 1 thing that I really like about it, thanks

It's all about individuality & preferences. Thanks

really wayne i aint slating your headlamps i for one really you do hate the colour of the OEM'S but i think the best way is to tint the internal housing.i had a grande punto sporting multijet with similar style headlamps as the rcz pure silver  .then a few years later the Abarth grande punto came out with a black/smoked grey housing.   i actually purchased a set and put them on my car what a difference it made very defined and sporty looking as i have said this is the first thing peugeot should resolve when it get a fascial as the use of leds in headlamps has opened up a whole new world of headlamp design and the rcz headlamps are large enough to incorprorate the led drls in them as well and not out with the headlamps

Hi Donna they are legal on the head lamps as it is not a solid film, it's a mesh. Also when the lights are on the mesh becomes almost transparent. These lights will not fail an MOT light test. If they blocked out the light at all & if they were. It legal I would not have had it done. Thanks Wayne

No worries I didn't see you reply to others at first. For me it's just a way of styling and making it a bit different to others. Also this mesh can look dark from some angles but light from others, but you can still see the chrome through the mesh which is quite nice. I agree that it would be nice if Peugeot released tinted internal housings in the future. Cheers

actually I sort of see the point of the front makes it look more like a sports car thanks to them. (for instance the Aston Martin DBS have black front headlights (but those are xenons)

but I would be concerned with the reduction of light output.

can the material work with the Xenons?

what do mean by working with xenons??? is it light output?well the xenons have a small increase in light output compared to the oem halogens so i would yes the mesh would be more compatible with the xenons,is the there not member from europe with this gaets his rcz is all,all black even his arches.his headlamps are darkened

whilst on another forum i noticed a member who has done the exact same thing as you it was called laminx or luminx and it only reduces light output by 5% :thumbup:so it is agood viable styling upgrade
