moved my car about 4ft the other day to clean it...few hours later I had to nip out..
started car but it died after missing for a few seconds and then would not fire but was turning over faster than normal..
friend came out with his testers and said I am down on compression ..rocker cover then removed and all the valves looked ok and were moving up and down as they should..my friend said it looks like you have jumped a tooth or 2 on timing chain..
anyway took it garage who had it 2 days they said it has jumped 7 teeth...surely if it jumped 7 teeth I would of heard knocking and the valves would not move..he trying to charge me between 1500 to 2000 pound to repair..what are your thought guys...thankyou

If it's done no damage to any other components, you can get the whole shebang (chain, guides, tensioners and VVT sprockets) done for a lot less than that.

I already have new timing chain etc (not fitted yet )....the garage said he has re timed it cuz it was out by 7 teeth but like I said there is no visible damage at all...and if it was out by 7 teeth I am sure I would here a knocking or see the damage to the valves when the rocker was off..

Some engines are none interference where no damage results after a timing mishap, but to be honest I’m not sure if the Peugeot engine is none interference :eusa-think: if it has damaged the valves I don’t think you would necessarily tell just by lifting the rocker cover.
I would have the new kit fitted by a specialist and go from there if your supplying the parts it shouldn’t cost more than £400-£500 let us know how you get on
