When Peugeot first unveiled the RCZ concept I thought WOW, but they will never build it. They did, but as I needed a family car I put it to the back of my mind. Then one day saw a used one in the local dealers and had to go in. The salesman pounced and offered an immediate test drive, how could I refuse? Dolphin Blue, cream leather (yes I know not Peugeot colour description). On returning I just had to try and get in the back. Silly me! Imagining crouching down in the pouring rain waiting for the seat to slide forward so I could get the grandson in I made my excuses and left but I was smitten. Decided a Sport would be better, thinking it would be like other two door Pugs with a tilt and slide seat (one operation) how wrong I was, and Peugeot. So internet search and miles travelled North, South, East and West looking at and sometimes test driving various models I finally found the Asphalt. It was in a franchised dealers but not Peugeot, taken in part exchange. A test drive later, refundable deposit paid, I returned home to check with er indoors, no check specs etc. as I had never heard of an Asphalt. Returned a few days later negotiated and it was mine, sorry ours, Wonderful drive home, after collection, especially on the M6 toll. (Speed) Then after a few trips out the temperature gauge started playing up. Typical Peugeot electrics I thought as it immediately returned to normal, then one day error message engine repair needed. Down to the local dealers, new sensor fitted under warranty, would not normally use them because of past experiences but did not want to drive to far not knowing what damage might be caused. My view of the dealer has not changed. Having read posts on the forum re spare wheel decided that was the route to go down so ordered new alloy, two tyres, jack, and wheel brace. Two new tyres fitted to the front (one old alloy and tyre as spare). It fits in the wheel well see photos posted. I have a used tyre if anyone is interested. Also having read posts on forum and had problems with tyre fitters damaging jacking points on previous cars, decided to use Peugeot. Also second year service was due (interim I thought) as 20000 mile service carried out last year and less than 3000 miles ago. (Family commitments and now health issues are conspiring to stop me enjoying the RCZ) how wrong was I, Peugeot service intervals? Full service carried out. Brake fluid not replaced? Someone mentioned this in a post. No visual health check report supplied either. It seems nobody knows the correct procedures! This car is becoming expensive.
I have read a press report that only 40 Asphalt were imported but the car is not numbered like some limited editions.
Sorry if you found this boring and sent you to sleep. I sometimes wish I had something to send me to sleep when lying in bed thinking of where to go next in the car and what route to take fast or slow. A short report of my experience so far.
