I reckon the banging my car has been making was the back box knocking inside the quad tailpipe finisher.. thing..
So I took it off to look, and decided to give it a spruce up and de-rust the mounting bolts plus gave the black parts a coat of satin black.. They still have some pitting on the stainless end piece, but look a lot better :)

Fyi, acid wheel cleaner is a brilliant rust remover.

When I made my quads, I had to cut off about 1-2" from the tail pipes coming out of the back box.
On these pieces was a wire wool type material, which I chiseled off and then put around the shortened pipes and then into the quad diverter box.
Not heard it rattle at all.

I used a piece of glass fire rope that I had left over from our log burner door seal.
So far, no knocking.

I don’t have quads :brickwall:

Bless!

I have A quad! (just the one) :?

Well actually it's an ATV (4WD all Terrain Vehicle) for shifting three 40 kilo sacks of olives at a time up (or down) up to eight two metre levels of terracing; ton and a half in a good year.
My grandson belts around on it scaring the natives and wildlife, when he visits.
Any of you are welcome to have a blast if in Western Spain.
