Long story short.

Much money spent on replacing Timing chain + tensioner, (second in 15 k) coil packs, plugs ,oil leak sorted, new battery etc etc!(kept throwing up EML from start up)

Main stealer tried their hardest but used only clues from fault code reader not common sense and knowledge'and still EML continued to activate after a brief couple of weeks without fault.

Took it to my trusted local mechanic (hadn't been available to sort out the initial problem at the time) who identified as low pressure on HPFP.

I sourced pump for £338 from Neo Bros and £96 for fitting -somewhat cheaper than £760 from Peugeot!

I now have a driveable Z for the first time.

Wish my own man had been available from the outset -even if he had replaced all the above I would have been many hundred pounds better off but more likely he would have properly identified the problem at the outset and saved a small fortune.

Anyway happy days (now)!

Wilsofar,

So glad you have managed to fix the Z, after all the money Peugeot had you throw at the car. It just goes to show that having a bloody good mechanic who knows his stuff, is worth their weight in gold, especially at Peugeot's prices LOL.

I hope now you have carefree driving for the distant foreseeable !! and thanks for sharing your misery with luckily a happy ending !!

Cheers M.

Glad you finally got it sorted.

My experience with two Pug dealers is very similar to yours. I'm in desperate need of a transmition specialist! as Peugeot seem clueless!

Just completed a pig of a journey to Heathrow ,M4 closed and M5 closed with all the resultant jams on the minor roads added to which bucket fulls of standing water.

Good news ,in all 6 hours of fast, slow, stop, very wet travel she coped without a murmur .I was very impressed with the Avon tyres which didn't flinch at driving at a faster (than I ought to )rate than was really feasible through inches of standing water (giving acres of space to the next car of course)

Together with having no seat discomfort (bog standard cloth) the surefootedness of the Z was quite outstanding.

Added to that I managed to fit a large travel suitcase easily in the marvellous boot.

I now have a very dirty car to clean!

He was a two man operation but is temporarily on his own + occasional Polish mechanic -so is rather busy.

He is Colin Drissel ,UNICAR in Green Lane STUDLEY,Warwickshire (adjacent to Redditch ,Worcestershire) 01527835777

He has been my mechanic for 20 + years when he used to repair/rebuild my fleet (3) of Private Hire cars -even spending a whole weekend rebuilding my Peugrot 607 (138) Hdi which had an internal chain explode (not sure if it was a timing chain or something else) ,evidently Peugeot still haven't sorted their chain suppliers!
