Stubborn Water Marks

I don't want to sound rude but I don't believe you don't have any marks at all.

Autoglym super resin polish mask swirls and scratches so I theory you believe you have nothing on the arches but remove the make-up and it's actually Susan Boyle underneath there.

But if it looks good then that's all that matters :)

Danielll, just wandering then does this mean that you always use a polish that slightly cuts, just curious because I would be a bit hesitant to use a cutting polish everytime the car needed a polish :eusa-think:
Maybe I should ditch the AGSRP if this is a better way of doing things, but my car has been coated with Gardx and I would of thought a cutting polish would have an effect on the Gardx.

Before I sealed my arches with c1 I used to use dodo juice supernatural metal polish which does have cutting abrasives but nothing that will harm the arches unless i could move my hand at 2500 rpm haha

In Srp there isn't many abresives more fillers than anything but the abresives are still there and if worked properly will remove swirls, I think you would have to work it in for about 4-5 mins on a 20 cm section before removing light swirls!

If your using Srp you won't see the scratches or swirls on the arches because of the heavy filling property's of Srp

A water mark is when a liquid has evaporated from the vehicle, sodium in the water creates the mark, the more sodium in the water the more severe the mark is! Acid rain, wind screen fluid will stain into the arches because of acidicy of the water the only way to remove them is to polish,
A polish level's the surface that you are polishing if you looked under a microscope the surface will look like mountains, then the abresives even them out!

In my opinion, a polish is only a polish if it contains abresives other wise it's a wax or a pre-wax cleanser!

So my advice would be to use a light polish, that you have to work to be affective, then seal with a sealant (because they last longer than a wax)

Sealants I would uses werkstat acrylic jett (6month), gtechniq c2 (6-9 month) or car lack68 (9-12 month)

Bit of an update:
Received the DoDo Lime Prime Lite , and after an hour of working on the water marks with this stuff they have improved, but not completely gone so in my opinion this product is just average.
However, Mrs H says its fantastic on the hob :wtf:

So its back to the drawingboard for me and the dreaded water marks. :eusa-think:

The Dodo Lime Prime Lite was never going to help you as its a pre wax cleanser with no abrasives. Sometimes watermarks become so ingrained that you have to use something with a bit of cut to remove them. Daniel recommended this to you and I would suggest you give it a try - see link below. Its a metal polish and will have a little cut. Working by hand is not going to do any harm to your roof arches using this. If I remember rightly the Detailer also used this on Donna's roof arches, when she had her car professionally detailed.

No watermarks on arches - ever.

If you live in a hard water area, like me, then water marks can be a pain. That's why using a Quick Detailer is a good idea when drying the car as it helps get rid of them. I now use a water filter for rinsing the car down, which is quick and does not leave water marks.

Thanks for the advice.
I do have some fine cutting products at hand but I'm just a bit cautious about using them on the arches as they may be a bit too harsh (Magiures Blemish & Scratch Remover, G3formula Scratch & Swirl Remover, ok on clear coat apparantly)
I think its the words "metal cutting" polish that frightens me with the DoDo Fine Cut Metal Polish
The DoDo Lime Prime Lite combined with Autoglym SRP did remove most of the water marks but if you look really close theres some small stubborn one still there, but they are 100% better than what they were.

The Lime Prime Lite leaves them silky smooth.
I would guess that the arches do have a coating or lacqure on them so if I decide to go for the DoDo Fine Cut Polish or use one that I alreay have I will only be cutting into the top coat :eusa-think:
I dont want to find myself in a position where I have permanently left a blemish.

Honestly, working by hand, is not going to do any harm. I used a similar metal polish on mine, by hand, and it brought them up nice. Put it like this. You'll only have to do it once a year, maybe even less, so removing any sort of top coat is going to be minimal. i've had a paint depth gauge on the roof arches and there is a little to play with.

Just been talking to a neighbour of mine who has a Renault with simular arhes to the RZC, he has also suffered from water marks in the past and has tried numerous vehicle products to sort them out. He's also a bit of a car cleaning fanatic like myself.
His tip was "WINDOWLENE" cream then a wax on top.
At first when he told I was "umm ok" :? But I have to say that the arches on his car are immaculate, not an hint of water marks and a lovely glossy sheen.
He's owned the car about 3 years and has used this product on the arches for the last 2 years with no adverse affects.
Apparantly theres no abrasives whatsoever in Windowlene, its all just cleaning addatives and nothing acidic, like some widow polish's.
Maybe worth a try if you do not want to use a cutting polish. :eusa-think:
