In layman's terms, what is the point of all of this and what exactly are you trying to achieve?

Better braking I would suggest.. ;)
But why? There is nowt wrong with the standard. Is there?

Not in my honest opinion. I'd say that the stock brakes are actually already VERY good. I'd only upgrade them if I was adding significant amounts of extra power.

Hence the reason that I'm puzzled by the thread. If one had added a whole lot more top end speed then clearly upgraded brakes would need to be added too.

What's puzzling me now is that why does this mod sharing thread bothers you so much?

I intend to increase the power of this car down the road but since I do not have enough to upgrade everything in one go, I have decided to upgrade the stopping power first.

It is more than adequate for now but I'm also considering the future.

Besides, what's the problem in wanting more than enough stopping power? For safety and sense of extra security are enough to justify this modification.

Did my previous reply answered your question or do you have some conclusion wanting to draw?

Yes nothing wrong with stock brakes on any car, but like everything, their is room for improvement and for some of us that is what we want and prefer.

For normal street use, the factory sport brakes are very good. But better pads and discs give some people more confidence allowing them to brake a little later and harder because the after-market items are better in most cases. When you need brakes in an emergency situation, better brakes will always work better.

When you want to really push your car hard, the factory brakes and factory brake fluid, will not do the job. So a major upgrade to larger discs, bigger calipers, better brake fluid is a must. Yes this is usually an expensive investment, but well worth it.

If you have the need for speed in your blood, upgraded brakes are a must.

The debate about why can go on for ever, but then so can debates about anything related to modifying any car. If you do it you understand, if you don't you don't.

Why only four holes for the Black Diamonds?

The images are examples and not the ones you will get for your RCZ. We currently do not have any ourselves, but will do soon so that we can post pictures of them (not all styles though). It gives you an idea of what styles you can choose. From the photo above of the Tarox grooved discs, this is what you will get as an example.

Does this not produce a rather uneven braking effect if these are only available/fitted to the front?! I plus have thought that this would have significantly affected the braking distribution? :eusa-think:

Not necessarily. The factory brakes are already designed around brake balance between front and rear based upon weight distribution and brake sizes. If you increase the front brakes there is a maximum you can go before you need to implement a new balance (e.g. proportioning valve). From my research this will be when you go above 380mm on the front. I believe the Tarox kit used here is 340mm.

Any time. I forgot to mention you can offset even 380mm + size front discs with larger rear discs but then would need to implement larger calipers on the rear as well for braking use and convert the factory caliper for parking brake use only.

yup, 340MM is what Tarox are offering. i guess thats the reason why they didnt go 380MM.. anyway Steven, just drop you a mail on the Tarox information, and also AP Racing... hope those are informative enough.

Thanks mate got it all, just got to get some time to go through it and then contact Tarox.

What is interesting is that your Tarox discs are the same size as the factory RCZ Sport front brakes (340mm), and as we know you had standard originally (302mm), so this is a good upgrade for non-Sport brake owners but not really too much for Sport brake owners. With that said I think it is correct that you could not go all the way to 380mm, but Sport brake owners probably can. So I will be discussing all of this with them and get prices on our site ASAP.

AP Racing I will look at as well.

Thanks again and for those wanting to upgrade their brakes, stay tuned as I hope to add Tarox soon to our site and shop.
