Still excited 1 year on?

As with all new cars we all get very excited as we countdown to the delivery date but I wondered if the novelty factor for any veteran rcz owners (owned for more than a year) had worn off? Are you already looking for your next fix?

The novelty of my 207cc wore off after 6 months when we had a series of snow storms in January. Funny that.

I've just ordered my rcz and I'm very excited but hoping the excitement doesn't wear off so quickly this time!!

An interesting question you pose here. I tend to keep my cars for 2.5 to 3 years. After a year to 18 months I tend to start looking around (not seriously) to see which car might become my next one. I usually know straight away what I am looking for - usually one or two cars on my list and that's it. That is unless something comes onto the market, which hits you between the eyes

I've never had the same car / model consecutively as I've always thought you would not have that "new car" feel that you would if you bought something completed different to your last.

I've had my RCZ for 15 months, so its getting close to that time :eusa-think: I've seen pictures of new models that are being released and to be honest, none of them have grabbed me ie Mini Coupe, Astra GTC, etc, etc. Okay I've not seen any of them in the flesh yet, but a picture should be able to grab and hold you, if its worth anything. The only one that I've thought "I wouldn't mind seeing one of those close up" is the new Toyota (can't even remember its full name now!).

To my mind, there is nothing out there, in my price bracket, that comes even close to the RCZ. Yes, it is a stunning car and people may say I'm a poseur or whatever, but for me, it has been a great car. I know some people have experienced problems of varying degrees but apart from the corroding wing mirrors, I've not had any problems (apart from my own doing). I'm already compiling a list of possible options that I may have on my next RCZ. I've thought about adding some extras onto my current RCZ but going back to what I said previously about never having the same model consecutively, I thought it might be best to wait until I get my second model and then I would have something that would look different. It may be a woman thing, who knows :eusa-think:

So I suppose in answer to your question, yes I am still excited 1 year on and looking forward to the next. Especially now we have been dangled a carrot of some further special editions, new colours possibly, who knows what coming soon.

The RCZ is definitely a hard act to follow :( ..... well at the moment anyway. Like you say ... apart from the Toyota FT-86 *drools* ... and I can't imagine that being diesel!!!

The thing with the RCZ (I think most people who own one find) is that when they saw one... they thought "I have to have one" and that's it. It certainly was with me since i saw the first pictures in the press. I'm so fortunate to say I've trully owned the car of my dreams .... and I don't mean something stupidly out of my price bracket. I can't see myself having another Pug after this as I think they've lost their way a bit, going all safety conscious and 'green'.

The toyota/subaru joint venture is really a damp squib with only 200bhp and is nowhere near as good looking as the rcz looks like a clone of the datsun 260z RCZ1 your in primetime TO CHANGE to get the rcz series 2 when it comes out but i think you would like the mini JCW COUPE

I don't mind safety conscious and I'm quite keen on the "green" thing. To be honest I'm not really interested in all out speed as its very, very rare that I get the chance to have a blast. Something relatively economical is good for me and even better if it looks great too

Jassy, not sure about the Mini Coupe. I don't like the look of the roof and it looks alot boy racer ish and I also used to own a Mini Cooper. Whilst it was like a go cart to drive, the ride was awful and it did start to give me shoulder pains ( which at the time I thought was down to my job but a few weeks after I got rid of the Mini, it all disappeared). So don't think I will be tempted.

Actually I have a little story about the Mini Coupe. My husband was sat in his car at the Services. He noticed a new Mini Coupe with a woman :eusa-think: driving swing in behind him, brake sharply, then reverse into a car parking space, at speed. Then there was a loud crunch. The woman got out of the car and my husband went to see if she was ok. The woman saw the damage she had done, which was quite substantial and she burst into tears. My husband tried to calm her down by saying it was only a car when she blurted out, it was actually her boyfriends car and he'd only had it a week

I'm nearly the year mark (I'm about 2 months away now) and I still get excited about owning an RCZ.

however nothing really has excited me in the price range considering the mini coupe I hate, the Vauxhall Astra GTC is a decent but not special car, Hyundai Veloster not my cup of tea (no offence bee).

there is only 2 and half cars that sort of interest me but 1.5 of them are out of my budget area and the toyota I would not want out of choice between the two

they are as following

Toyota GT-86 (£25,000)
Subaru BRZ (£30,000) too expensive
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (£28,000) too expensive

I have had an RCZ for darn near a year now. Pearl2 is my second. I love her to bits. She is the sexiest looking car on the road. She handles like a dream. Her sound system is a joy to hear. The power and acceleration are phenomenal. I never look at her without thinking "what a good looking car she is"
So yes one year on and I suffer from the RCZ Syndrome and am not seeking a cure

Looks wise I still think nothing can touch it. I genuinely think it's still a fantastic looking machine.

However, I think that PSA have messed up with the engine.... Could just be me but id say that it's only been working 100% for Maybe 3/4 of its time and I've not even had it a year. I guess I was spoiled coming from Hondas K20 engine and before that rovers leightweight K-Series, but to have a car costing the wrong side of £25k having 2 engine problems in 17,000 miles is unacceptable. Made worse by the fact it's the same problem reported by mini and GTi owners for the past 4 years...

To not ship a flagship with these issues addressed screams lazy and dilutes the premium GT ownership experience somewhat.

I have had mine for 14 months and I'm still in love with it! I haven't seen a better-looking car that I'd like to own (except maybe a ferrari :) )

Is the FT-86 definitely being rolled out into production? Last i read it was still at the concept stage. That was some time ago though that I last looked into it. It's a pretty tidy looking car.

I elected to buy my RCZ now before kids come along as i don't really see it as being a practical family car. I realise that there are child's seats that are compatible but I don't particularly fancy trying to wrestle a potentially squirming infant into the back.

I haven't had my RCZ nearly long enough to be even contemplating a change but I have to say that, for me too, it is one of my dream cars and it makes me :D every time i see it or drive.
