Steam cleaning, will this work?

Hi all,

I can't seem to remove tree sap from my car with any products available. The only thing that works for me is gently rubbing the affected spots with boiling water which melts the sap and removes it quite well. However this is quite a long process as I find the water has to be at virtually boiling point, any cooler and it just doesn't work. With this in mind I have thought about using a handheld steam cleaner which would speed up the process. Would this be bad for the paintwork?

I've used most products and use clay often but it only really takes off small spots, anything larger doesn't really budge.

All comments are welcome!

Thanks,

Lee.

Foam and the trusty 2 bucket method with hot water and a good shampoo and wash mitt (3m car shampoo is good and can be picked up from Tesco), should take most of it off. If more is required then use a fine clay, if it fails to remove then move to medium clay but make sure the clay lube is thick otherwise you'll more likely marr the paint!
Could also try tar and glue remover before claying!
