Squealing brakes a very low speeds on my RCZ R

Hi all,
I'm having a little problem with my disc brakes when I brake at very low speeds..it makes a very horrible high pitched sound, Very embarrassing on my new RCZ R. Anyway, it's been back to the garage and they have stripped the pads and said it was a build up of crap on the discs. They have returned the car to me and it started doing it again, only a week later. :eusa-think: it's got to go back in, but just wondered if anyone has an idea why its doing this???

Thanks

Same problem, been developing on front near side over last few weeks. Going in for winter safety check at some point so will ask them to look at it then.
Had brake discs and pads checked early December, dealer said all was good so like you, a bit baffled :eusa-think:

Yea, this is very odd...I'm hoping someone on the forum can help us.

Shims and plenty of coppaslip on backs of pads may cure it. Can be a bit of a nightmare to fix squeal though. Seeing as under warranty I'd be asking them to change pads if it keeps returning. If OEM pads keep being an issue, consider some other quality pad like Ferrodo ds2500 or Pagid (don't go for EBC 'Stuff' rubbish), not sure if they will fit RCZ-R though, you'll have to research. I'd expect pug to contribute if they can't fix it with OEM pads too, as you say it takes all the enjoyment out of the car if you make small children cry when you come to a halt...

On a side note, I actually made my jag brakes squeal after a visit to my mechanics. While it was up on ramps I decided to use his air gun to clean my drilled discs... Squealed for about a week afterwards, turns out some brake dust is a good thing!

Ferodo DS fits to the RCZ R brake. But especially Ferodo will squeal as they have a bit harder pad material which goes into fine vibrations when touching the discs at low speeds. That causes this annoying squealing.

RCZ R's brake tend to squeal when really cold. On mine, it happens like once a month. I really don't care.

Mine squeak when they are hot and all the time when braking at very slow speed, literally 10mph....I wish I could say it doesn't bother me but it's all the time  .

Now that's very interesting ....when I bought the car it had brand new discs and pads because it had a warped disc previously. I said at the time do they need bedding and was told no. So are we thinking they do need to be and I should give them a bit of a seeing to

I've experienced it a few times. A visit to the jet wash and a blast into the discs and calipers sorts it out for a few weeks. It must be dust and crap build up. Brakes are fantastic on the standard hdi, the r must be fenominal.

So, just back from the dealers after its safety check, and guesse what, the brakes are fine. No problems with the pads or discs, and of course, right on cue, no noise from the brakes whatsoever. :eusa-shhh:
Mechanic test drove, I took mechanic out, impossible to get them to make any sound at all. :eusa-think:

Once we got home, my OH went out on a short journey &, yes, squealing brakes again :wtf:

Suppose at least I know everything is safe anyway ;)

Bet they sprayed them with a cleaner and after a short time they squeal again.

I mentioned this to the dealers while I was there. They said they would check it out.

When I picked the car up, I asked, and they said they had looked, but nothing had been issued by Pug that related to my car :eusa-think:

They did offer to strip the brakes down, and rebuild them using ceramic paste ? They did say though that this would be at a cost to me, and as they couldn't see anything wrong with them, the chances are that doing this wouldn't make any difference at all.

I declined the offer (for now) depends how annoying the noise becomes

Might be worth doing a video recording on your phone to capture the noise as proof?
