I was doing 38 in a 30 zone.

Already done a speeding course about 2 years ago so I wont be offered another.
I have heard that if you get caught again within 3 years of a doing a speeding course you will also have those points thrown at you , so I could get 6 points ?
But I've also heard that this is a myth :eusa-think:

Any idea for 90mph in a 50 mph zone ?

I would say you are potentially looking at an instant ban Scott  Rule of thumb is 30mph over the limit equals ban

90 MPH is the benchmark anywhere on any road type/motorway for a Ban for 3 month's or even more if you have been caught speeding before Scott :(

90mph on a motorway is not a ban, 100+ is though 90mph in a 50 zone will be ban quite lengthy too.

I'd guess somewhere between 6 points or a 2 month ban, + fine. Letter from the bosses saying you need the car for work etc would help you out.

Coming from a 106, I find myself hitting the speed limit so much more quickly it still catches me by surprise.

If I don't constantly monitor the speedo I can quite easily exceed the limit without noticing.

I got done for doing 96 on the motorway some 4.5 years back. License is clean now, police records are clean now, insurance company still counts the points and will do until it hits 5 years. I didn't have the RCZ at the time.

I was caught on a camera, last November , in Cardiff, to which I was kindly offered an invitation to attend with other criminals, to a Tea & Biscuits event to confess further to my almighty Sin,of a fraction over the statutory Limit, (30)..
OK joking aside.........There are rules to ensure we live in a civilised society, and I broke the rule, (Or rather, I was caught), but doesnt it make you angry when you spot the local Boy racer fraternity, racing around your neighbourhood with no thought or consideration for others, and most definately proceeding at a velocity far in excess of what the law requires. Wheres a Copper when you want one.Im still spitting feathers over that event, and it has got me almost scared to drive through the Welsh capital city as the growth in cameras is quite evident to me now. I have now taken to going'Into Town', using the Bus...........................(Bendy mobile GT).
OH hell, I feel a little better just letting off some steam, but those little B********* screaming around my place should take heed.

Mal, We are very fortunate here in North Yorkshire, as we do not have any fixed speed camera sites. If I was to venture into Cardiff or similar then I always use the speed limiter. I use this whenever I am in an area that has cameras as it means that I can concentrate on my driving and that of others, without constant reference to my own speed distracting me. Have you considered this as an option?

Swansea went through a very bad spate a few years ago with boy racers and joyriders .

You could hear tyres screeching and police chases almost every night , then in the morning on our way to work you would see the aftermath of it all, crashed cars into parked cars or garden walls, and on nearly every street you passed, you would find the calling card of all joy riders the, 100ft "snake" tyre marks embedded into the tarmac.

Thankfully things have settled down, apparently a few of the main culprits were constantly getting caught, then being "sentenced" to a bit of a jolly at one of Her Majesty's pleasure camps and on release were starting all over again, using "tips" they had learned from their fellow campers, thankfully the sentences got longer and were also served out in tougher establishments.
It seemed to do the trick and "changed their ways".
I recently spotted one ex joyrider in my local, gone was the smarmy attitude, replaced by a dribble when he talked and a constant worried look over his shoulder, obviously the thought of a shower, bar of soap and bending over were playing on his mind ;)
Breaking into cars, will eventually leave you a broken man.
