Hi guys/girls

I test drove the RCZ on sat and I was blown away. It looks and drives amazing. I drove the 163 GT diesel and it packs a punch - but Im unsure as to go for that or the the 156GT petrol version? One thing I am certain of is that it will be white. Also, is there a best time to buy from the dealers (like end of august) seeing as the new reg come out in september?

I also noticed during the test drive whilst waiting for an oncoming vehicle to pass me ( in a narrow street) a parking sensor went off with the display showing which side of the rcz was close to the oncoming car. Is this standard feature on the GT models?

Re leasing the car, is there a restriction to lease from Peugeot Dealers close to where I live or can i go to other dealers nearby to get the best deal? sorry if this a dumb q but this is a first time i would be leasing a car.

Any other tips/hints?
Thanks

Id go petrol hands down. Its like a Peugeot rep (and friend of mine) said: "When you're going crazy, why be sensible-crazy and buy a diesel?" :)
Remember you are buying this car to have fun (and to have the best looking car on the road) ;)

When it comes down to when you should buy the car, as far as I know - the 2013 model will get a facelift, so probably its a good time to buy one before that one comes out (since it will be a little cheaper Id assume).

I would go for the THP 200 petrol, not enough go in the 156.

Ditto to that, the 200 has so much more poke. I test drove the 156 and was impressed but wanted more so went for the asphalt. :)
There's not been any hard fast data on a face lift model as yet but it is coming, if your willing to buy one that's sitting in a compound rather than go new off the line you will save a small fortune and get it much quicker. 3 weeks max instead of 3 months ;)

Hi peeps
thanks for the replies - I want to go for the 156 as Im not fussed about power and speed (which is a good thing for me) and will kp insurance down :)

did any of you get the vision pack? I so want to get XENONS but dont want to pay for extra for it - what are my options?
Starky, what bulbs would I need to change the DRL and number plate lights to LED?

thanks

I bought myself an ashpalt so comes with all the toys, Xenons are worth every penny if you ask me, my last 3 cars have had them and there is no way I could go back to normal bulbs, be like driving in the dark haha.
Have a look at rczperformance. They will give you an idea on all the bulbs you can get and much more ;)

I disagree with every aspect of this reply. The diesel that you test drove as you know carried plenty of punch. More that enough for the average driver  The 156bhp petrol is frequently described as "under powered" therefore if you went for petrol then I assume the obvious choice would be the 200bhp. The diesel is so much more fuel efficient to the petrol variants too. Insurance wise I don't know but suspect that it would be of a sensible order. Peugeot have stated that a face lifted version is not currently on the cards. So buy when you want but don't discount the diesel from your options. The vision pack is worth every penny and personally I wouldn't be without it. It comes with not just much better head lights but they turn as you turn the steering wheel, so lighting up the road not the hedge. They also have the tyre pressure sensors, which can be rather handy too. The sports pack is well worth considering as it come with a smaller steering wheel (standard on 200bhp petrol) The media package is pricey but again a great item. Improves the cab appeal ten fold as well as bringing many features apart from merely a sat nav.
Your decision on white is a great choice as Pearl White is right for a RCZ  I am not in the least suprised by your reaction to a test drive. The RCZ is great to drive and to look at. Ownership is a whole lot of fun.

Oi...leave the 156 alone!! The performance figures belie the fractional differences between the engines...200bhp 0.6 of a second quicker to 62mph and only 13mph higher a top speed. Diesel variant 0.4 of a second slower to 62mph than the 156bhp petrol version. On the roads that equates to negligible power increases. Driven properly the 156 will give a 200bhp a good run for its money.
As for the the extras, the audio pack does give the cabin a nicer finish but it's massively overpriced. I WOULD go for the vision pack...gets rid of those horrible yellowish lights and xenons and the turning lights make a real difference during night driving, particularly if you do country road driving.

I'd go for the GT version as it makes the cabin a much nicer place to be. Upgrade the alloys...standard ones aren't stand out. With the money saved on not buying the overpriced audio pack, get yourself the much better sized alcantra steering wheel fitted and a more comprehensive sat nav than the one Pug will give you!!

However, it's your money and you have to live with the car and your decision so do your research, work out your priorities and buy what's best for you!!

That's alright RON...I'll let ya off.  I'm just defensive of my little baby!! it is a little, but to be honest, the 200bhp is still underpowered. The kerb weight of the car shows how heavy it is and it really needs another 50 or so BHP to make it the performance car it could be. Your engine likely provides the torque you'd expect the car to have naturally. All that aside, despite the looks, it just isn't a performance car and that's not why I bought it. It's a stunning car with a capable engine but it's not going to throw you into your seat under hard acceleration like a similarly priced golf GTI will.

It depends what you want out of the car but I find the 156 has enough power. It will enable you to overtake safely and quickly should a short opportunity arise on a country road for example. It also hugs the bends well so certainly won't leave you lagging behind the pack. As mrizzle said, in the real world performance figures are insignificant. I personally would see no reason why I would ever need the 200 over the 156, but that is down to your personal requirements.

Let us know what you decide on :)

Nought boring about it. It is your car, your choice, but do your homework to avoid the "if only's" later down the line.

The RCz denons are the best option to go for then a wheel upgrade but leasing it then it doesn't make sense as it bumps the monthly price up so do what I did upgrade them yourself then change the lights back before hand it back look at the Thread CHANGING DRLS TO LED IT'S THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE THREAD ON HOWTO DO THE CHANGES TO THE LIGHTS

Yip the banter thread seems to have fallen away but I think I'll shall endeavour to see it resurrected like some type of forum messiah. :) you're single again...bet there will be rejoicing in the underwear of women all over Hamilton...and many a father looking to lock up their daughters!!!  kinda fell away from the forum for a while...life got in the way and hadn't realised you were up this way until latterly. Would have been good to have had the opportunity to meet the man...the legend...the wingman (mav(jass)erick in person. As I said, I'll fire into the banter thread once more soon and hopefully you will pop in to update us with your banter and news. Trust all is good with you...doesn't sound like Avril has knocked you out of step...which I am relieved about. Hope all is well with you buddy and that Kerry returns soon to give us all a chuckle!! Take care for now...

I must say the oil burner is the middle ground I travel 30 miles to work a mix of motorway and A roads I hit 54 to 55 mpg and it keeps most cars behind it, whatever model you chose make sure you get the Vision pack I didn’t and have changed my lights as best I can. In all versions it’s a truly stunning car only go for a GT the comfort is worth the extra few pound notes.

But as my fellow members say it’s your money spend it as you see fit the choice is all yours enjoy the best looking car on the road.
