Hi everyone,

I'm in need of a bit of advice. I bought a Halfords pressure washer over Christmas and they advised me that the detergent bottle below is suitable for snow foaming. I know a dedicated snow faom lance would probably be better, but do any of you know whether this Halfords bottle will do the job?

Hi Hart

I've got one with my pressure washer but I've never used it. I seem to think that I read on detailing world, back when I first started detailing 3.5 years ago, that they are not up to the job as well as a foam lance - mainly because I don't think you can adjust the spray / mix of snowfoam to make it thicker, thinner, etc.
But why don't you give it a try and see what happens?

Thanks K,

I'm waiting for some snow foam to be delivered. Once I get it I will give it a go and see what happens. :eusa-whistle:

I'll let you know how i get on.

All the best,

Steve

I did'nt know that Snow Foam curdles & goes lumpy, if stored below 5 degrees........................but I certainly do now

It still works but requires far more to do the job. Hense it does'nt last nearly as long! So, this new lot is staying in the kitchen.

Well, Halfords pressure washer has been returned for a full refund. Every connection leaks very badly and snow foaming with the detergent bottle was a complete waste of time.

A new Nilfisk pressure washer from Amazon and snow foam lance from Clean Your Car ordered.

It sure is Hart. Never ceases to amaze me the looks you get from passer-bys when I'm snow foaming. They probably think "mad woman - hasn't a clue what she's doing" :eusa-whistle:

Mostly, it's fun to do........however, it "clings" to the vehicle and slowly drips down grabbing dirt and grime with it so that when you finally rinse it off after leaving it to "dwell" for 10 mins or so, theres no (or very little) dirt left on the beastie.
That's the theory anyway....................I'm new to it myself but am really enjoying doing it and have to say that the Magifoam I have actually does what it says. A great big (cow sized?) seagull gave mine the benefit of it's recycled dinner on the weekend and the foam just kinda 2stripped" it off the glass and paint without me needing to rub or use a wash mitt.

simple question, what are the benifits of snow foaming ~?

As H12RPO says, there is a big benefit to snow foaming. I think it is THE most important part of the cleaning process.
The new snow foams which have just come onto the market are much, much better at removing the dirt on your car. Autobrite Magifoam is one, the other is Chemical Guys No Touch Snow Foam, which is the one that I now have. This snow foam leaves me gobsmacked every time that I use it. As long as you get the dilutions correct so that it applies quite thickly, it will cling for longer thus removing more dirt from the car. The less dirt that remains on your car the more you have lessened the risk of incurring scratches / swirls as you don't need to rub at it to remove it.

I cleaned my husband's Discovery 4 the other week when it hadn't been washed for about 4 weeks. It was really dirty so I snow foamed it with the new snow foam and the transformation was astonishing. It left the car about 90% clean, just from snow foaming and it was really, really dirty. The good thing too is that it doesn't strip wax or sealants off your car, as long as you keep to the correct dilutions (about an inch of snow foam in the foam bottle and topped up with water just over half way).

Do you reckon the CG one is better than the magifoam???? if so why ie does it cling more or go on thicker etc????

Also thinking my ancient Karcher might need replacing with a NIlfisk 120 ...............and I blame YOU Kerry!

I get blamed for everything - it's just like being at home

I haven't tried the Magifoam. I'm a big fan of Chemical Guy products. They always do the job they are supposed to do and are very easy to use and give impressive results, which is why I tried their No Touch SF. From reviews I've read on both, they both seem to be rated very highly. I don't think there is much between them, to be honest.
