Smell of Vomit in car

I gave two friends of mine A lift home from a wedding last night and one of the rear seat passengers vomitted all over the back seats and carpets. I was a front seat passenger and my girlfriend was driving and I was beside myself with annoyance but anyway, the girl paid for me to get the car cleaned and I took it to a valet cleaning company and got the interior cleaned but the smell is still present! The carpets and seats are still damp but I'm Worried that the smell will still be there tomorrow. Does anybody know much about theses things or advice as to what I should do next? I am thinking about getting it Valeted again by another company to see if they can do any better but i would like people's opinions on what I should do? Naturally I'm very annoyed over this and all I want is the car back to the way it was and the smell gone!!

The smell will probably go over time, maybe Fabreze or similar might help? The fact that there is still moisture there will probably emphasise any lingering smell. It probably won't be as bad when dry, but I feel for you buddy, if it was mine I wouldn't be a happy bunny.

My OH had this experience. He had to get rid of the car as he couldn't get rid of the smell.

It's funny stuff, vomit - something to do with the enzymes in it makes it an absolute nightmare to get rid of the smell.

I wish you luck and hope you can get it sorted though. :thumbup:

(Wouldn't have happened in the RCZ - mainly because you couldn't get 2 people in the back!!)

There is a device on the market which does ionisation to the air circulated in the car's cabin. They put that small box (like a shoe box) inside the car, hook it up to cigarette lighter, turn the AC on, close all doors and recirculate the air for like an hour or two. No persons are allowed inside during this procedure.
This device destroys all smelly molecules and disinfects the AC as a side effect.

Give it a try.

When the temperature gets warm, the smell is horrendous. Hence why my OH got rid of his car despite all these things tried. It never fully goes away.

Thanks guys. All replies greatly received! I hope to have it sorted out soon enough! It is true though that if I still had the RCZ I would have the perfect excuse to say no to two more passengers!!! :eusa-think:

I've seen a product comparison on "auto mobil" on German TV whose outcome was that the only 100% effective method is that mentioned by RCZ-R.

Hi' :greetings-wavingblue: and every car owner feels for you as I'm sure that we all agree that there is no worse odour to have in one s car as its enough to me ale you feel sick yourself !

There are specialist companies out there who specialise is the cleaning and sanitising of vehicles which have been contaminated by body fluids etc, the police service use them when their patrol vehicles get contaminated with vomit etc from their designated clientelle. These companies usually mobile in operation are specialists and not simply car valleters who themselves may not have the niche chemical solutions necessary to truly sanitise your car.

Had a think about this. Ask at your local taxi firm what they do. It must happen often to them, and I believe there is only a £25 "fine" if you are responsible for the vomit, so I'm guessing they don't pay any more than that to get it sorted, and I have yet to get in s taxi that smells of vomt, so whatever they do must work. Just a thought :eusa-think:

Cheers guys, appreciate all and every bit of info. I'm Currently researching a few options on this including all of those mentioned. The problem Is that the carpets are still damp from The last valet done on Sunday so it's difficult to tell whether it will be sufficient or not. The weather isn't helping with this unfortunately. I am even using an open container of bicarbonate of soda sitting on the back seat as I believe it helps to soak up any odours. The challenge continues :eusa-whistle:
