You may remember I've been victim of someone doing this very thing, twice now. Both times they felt compelled to drag my name through the mud. I'm sorry but that's not why we all come onto a forum. The majority of members participate courteously. Why should the minority ruin it for the rest of us?

Blog: http://rczandme.wordpress.com/

I've had the same experience happen to me, as some 'older' members and mods will remember. As a female, I wholeheartedly understand how Kerry feels to have been treated by some. it's genuinely frightening to have people be threatening towards you. Makes you remember how none of us are trully 'friends' on here, which is sad.

I too, find myself dipping in and out less frequently due to the actions of others which saddens me.

I also feel sorry for the mods who feel they have to crack the whip when others refuse too. A thankless task I imagine.

But thanks guys for trying to keep things on an even keel. Perhaps its time for a masssive cull of absent, transient members. You mods must be able to see who's on and when. People who get deactivated through non-use can always rejoin if they want.

Anyone who is threatening to another forum user will be instantly banned. If its not reported then we can't do anything about it. I don't see what culling members would achieve to be honest and it would be too labour intensive to carry out anyway.

I have not been on long enough on the forum to know of all whats went on before but if any threatening behaviour i would fully expect that person to be removed. But as Evil says,if its not reported how can anyone do anything?

Because it makes a whole mockery of actually banning someone.

The message it is giving out is that it's ok to do as you please because if you are banned, just simply re-register as a different name and carry on as before.

Again I don't see how this is a worry for you or affects your personal usage of the forum, moving forward.

I think we'll just deal with issues on a case by case basis. I don't think that we're suddenly going to have an invasion of trouble makers simply because I'm not adopting a totalitarian approach to the rules.

The minority is not currently ruining it for the rest of us as far as I can tell. If that changes, I'll take appropriate action.

You only have to look at usage of the forum when these people post and the disruption is at its height. Members are put off visiting the forum. It does spoil the enjoyment of the forum and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I'll leave it at that as I think I've made my thoughts clear. I know you and the Mods have a hard task trying to please everyone and keeping a happy ship is not easy.

Donna's issue was dealt with at the time, by me. The perpetrator then re-registered at a later date and then started their attack on me./

That was wrong and shouldn't have happened to either of you. I'll be dealing with these instances personally in future so that I have a clearer picture of what's happening and when.

Very very surprised to read all this... :?

A few months ago I introduced myself in the Newby section, and soon some wanted me to show pics of my car. I declined, as in my country (the Netherlands) you can find the name of owner and home address by the licenseplate and I don't want that on a public forum. I explained this of course. As I was attacked about this I got a friendly PM from Smarty, yes... about him also being attacked by some members here for not showing pictures, like me :(

Then someone said i was kaminski... I am a dutch female, and i tried to proof that by posting some lines in dutch, as I know there is at least one more dutch member on the forum and I hoped he would tell the others that I am genuine dutch, so that I am who I said in my introduction.

But they still didn't believe I am me, and then all of a sudden I got banned. Of course I don't know who did that, or why. I never got a warning whatsoever, and I never posted anything abusive to anyone at all. I never sent a PM to anyone either. All I did was trying to defend myself being me, and I wasn't believed by some here that seem to be very very paranoid...???

After contacting through a link at the ban thing I was let in again, but the few posts I ever made here, in my own Newby line, were, and still are, all gone. So is my avatar, etc. Well, next to my post here I suppose you can see how few I wrote since joining this forum, and those few posts, all about me telling them that I am NOT someone else, were enough to get banned?

I like to read here about the rcz stuff, but I don't post anything myself anymore, scared of being accused again of something I don't even know what it is all about, and to be threatened to post pictures when I don't want to do that.

I will stay quiet again now and just read, but I needed to get this off my heart, as now it seems I am by far not the only one who has been treated very badly here, just for being a new member.

I guess that this is the problem with poor management. If a wound isn't cauterised then the chances are it will fester, then gangrene will set in, resulting in the need for amputation

What if some people see you as the wound, Ron. Should we ban you? Would that be fair?

Mendy is definitely not Kaminsky as evidenced by checks on the email address that she contacted me with which corresponds to various social media accounts including Linked In. If she were the same person then Kaminski would have needed to set up a number of online identities to match, years in advance.

Mendy should never have been banned in the first place and I have apologised to her for this. Yet one more reason why I am reticent to swing the ban-hammer around with impunity.

To be honest Donna, after I took over the forum I deliberately havent been too active as I didn't want to upset things and don't have an RCZ. Previous forums that I've run such as Scirocconet have seen me be a prolific poster as I owned a car and modded it extensively. That's not the case here but to be very honest, this place in my view has become very cliquely of late, with a group of well established members too quick to want to get rid of new people who don't share their views. With that in mind I've decided to take a more active role.

As RCZ1 stated, a lot of folk on here may never have been on a forum before. Only too well demonstrated by those that email me about specific issues regrading their cars, thinking we're actually Peugeot! There's a lot of folk who sign up. never bother posting, forget their username and then email me to recover it, before doing things like PMing folk daft questions. Quite frankly those aren't the type of users that I'm interesting in attracting to the forum as it does nothing for the rest of the community.

If this place is to reach critical mass, with a wealth of diverse content and opinions it has to be more open and tolerant of opposing views. As it stands at the moment the site needs a change of dynamic for it to continue to grow. It's way too serious a place to be at the moment, with people calling for folk to be banned just because their being critical of their car etc. As the model becomes more accessible to a wider customer base through falling used values, more people will become active on the site and I'm loathe for them to be put off because an small but vocal incumbent user base doesn't like what they may have to say.

There will always be the odd "troll" but thats part of forums and can actually spark some interesting conversations. Rest assured that harassment will never be tolerated and I'd urge anyone experiencing it to report it to me immediately.

That maybe correct but a sure way of getting everybody's backs up is to always side with a troll.

I have read the posts of our absent landlord and feel that owing to the fact that he has not taken an active interest that he has made judgements that are not borne out by the facts. The problem with absentee landlords that fail to listen to their tenants, they only realise how serious the water leak in the roof is, is when the ceiling falls down.

I began this thread because I was concerned and embarrassed by what I was told. Why did I feel this way? Because it is NOT the norm. All members new and old are treat with courtesy. I agree that some of us that have owned a RCZ for a long time and been on here for a long time have got more familiar with some members than others. That does not represent a clique nor does that fact that I have met many members at the various meets that I have attended.

WE welcome, advice and inform all members on any queries when we know the answers. If our leader had ever owned a RCZ he would know what feelings are evoked by ownership of this car and as such members are only too happy to talk with pride about the car. We do not get many if ever members saying that the RCZ is anything other than a pleasure to own. So the assumption that the clique takes offence at posts from people with a different opinion is clearly only in the heads of people who know no better.

The problem arises when a new member joins to troll and posts random comments in threads that have no relevance to the thread nor add anything to it. This is not something that happens too often, but when it does it is disruptive. If and when they finally get banned they should stay banned. By breaking the forum rules enough times shouldn't make you immune to them, or it just makes a mockery of the forum as a whole.

If I am the wound then so be it, but if someone that has supported the forum and it's sponsors, helped out numerous of our members is deemed to so, then I would strongly suggest that the management need to try owning a RCZ and partaking actively in the forum in order to recognise who is friend and who is foe. Owning a RCZ is not like ownership of most other cars. The RCZ chooses you and you know how fortunate you were to be chosen

Just to ad to the conspiracy theory.Maybe Evil derboy is kaminski?
It looks like too many folk have been on a ego trip exactly as THE MANAGEMENT has posted.
2 in particular should maybe consider their positions and leave the forum to non egotists.
I fully respect evil`s sentiments re you havent got an rcz.. you dont want to post pics etc.
The forum would be well rid of these people i think.
Such self centered bitterness to all that disagree has no place here.
