Smaller wheels?

does anybody know if it's possible to fit 17" wheels on 1.6 RCZ?
i know it sounds a bit strange, but where I live we have plenty of snow in winter and roads are often not cleaned in time. so having a smaller disk would allow to put a better tire for such weather conditions during winter time. :auto-car:

It's sound good and idea is good but .... It's REALlY hard to find any wheels on RCZ . Only standart pegs wheels 18"-19", more expensive from OZ and thats all. And it's only 18". I find one it's Rial Padua not bad, cheap, made in Germany but only 18.

wheel size has nothing to do with better grip in the snow narrow tyres along with winter tyres will help greatly

you can't really fit a narrow tyre - we are stuck with 235/45 with no other options. but if you downgrade to 17" (or even 16") - selection of nice winter tyres is huge. while for the current 18" there are 4-5 types available (and none of them is breath-taking). also 16" + winter tyres would cost pretty much the same as tyres for 18" alone.

so the question remains - for 1.6THP can you fit 16-17"? my local dealer has no clue :wtf: :mrgreen: saying that you need to buy and try. :thumbdown:

hmm. are you sure? there's plenty when I searched.
you should look for 5x108 7.5J ET40 disks.

No no only ET you can put on RCZ it's 27 and this is a big problem to find it

I found 18" rims (that is 5/108/27) for £150 each plus snow tyre for £90 each to fit from my local tyre fitters.

that is a great price. the cheapest tyre for winter I found (Pirelli Winter 240 SottoZero) costs around $250. :wave:
btw, talked to some tyre/rims importers - they checked all catalogs they have and say only 18" or 19" disk fit. :cry:

Sorry no links, I called into my local tyre/wheel dealer (Tyremark) and the guy in there made some phone calls and came up with 2 suppliers of 18" wheels TO FIT correctly.
Then said 18" snow tyres FROM £90 -> (you can find them online, from places like Black Circles and others) as you are not likely to be doing lots of speed, look at Transit tyres (I know this sounds odd, but they are the same size on some models)
The BIG problem is front disc size and "offset" The RCZ runs 5X108 with 65.1 Centre Bore and 27 offset.
Now at the tyre place they said within 10% of offset was OK so Citroen C5 (2008->) would fit and the C6 (2005->) is very close, but are they 18" ?

How did you solved this situation?

Did you bought 17" rims and 215/55r17 wheels?
