Hi all
I've have I had a terrible week! My poor puss cat is sick
A week ago today I went into the garden to call her as I usually do. I heard her crying pitifully in next doors back garden.
I cleared the 7ft fence pretty quick for a 50 year old...found her laying in a pool of blood, soaking wet and with puncture marks and blood flowing from her back. I don't know how long she had been there.
A dash to the emergency vet and a diagnosis of injuries from a fight with another cat. But she was in a terrible mess. Even I was covered in her blood..
She was critical for 3 days, and unable to pass urine or any bowel movement. Her left leg paralysed and her right leg unable to support her. Her tail is fine.
As she was showing little sign of improvement my vet told me to take her home and see if she relaxed enough to start the essentials.
Happily within an hour we had urine, and then 12 hours later a bowel movement.
Her leg is still paralysed, but hopefully it's just nerve damage which will repair in time. Thankfully no broken bones.
So, she is at home and we are allowing her to try and move as and when she wishes, but it's not very good, so she's getting a lot of assistance....which she begrudgingly accepts.
WHEN she is fully fit, she will have to come to terms with her new life, as I'm going to build a big pen for her so she can go out, but no longer roam.
My opinion on letting cat's roam free has been completely altered by this. I no longer want the worry it causes every night. I love her and I nearly lost her. I'm not going to go through that again.
