Short shift

The Sport Pack standard on the GT and a factory fitted option on other models, is exactly the same whichever car it's on, if you spec it.

Ive sent a PM to Peugeot Tech on the forum to Hopefully give us an answer :eusa-think:
My guess is it's not a different gearbox but a short shift assembly like that i had fitted to a Type-r :thumbup:

Thanks Smiler. Would be good to have a definitive answer. Mind you, we'll have to hope the person answering is more knowledgeable than the salesman who took me out - but that's another story. Nice chap but didn't know as much as he should about his product....

I tend to agree with you smiler. I think its just a smaller gear stick and assembly. Same notchy box.

The Interior Sports Kit on RCZ includes a smaller 'sports' steering wheel and a shorter gear lever. The gear shifts feel slightly shorter and sportier because of the shorter lever but there isn't a significant difference. There is a significant difference in the steering wheel, both in apperance and feel. It gives the cabin a much sportier look and improves the driving experience, through improved ease of use and style.

Pre-facelift, the Sports Kit was a standard feature on the 1.6 THP200 engine, regardless of level (Sport or GT). On all other engines it was an option.

With the facelift of RCZ, the kit remains a standard feature of the 1.6 THP200 but is also fitted as standard to all other GTs. Therefore all facelifted RCZ GTs have the Sports Kit as standard. It is still an option on RCZ Sport with THP156 or HDi163 engines (Sport THP200 has the kit).

The rational for all of this was to make the interior of RCZ GT look as sporty and consistent as possible, whilst controlling the specification of RCZ Sport, in order to maintain a reasonable entry price point for the RCZ range in the UK.

This is copied from the initial information that Peugeot circulated with the launch of the facelifted photographs back in September. It clearly states the " sound box " is included on the Sport pack. See the last item on the list although it does miss the fact that it is standard on the 156 GT model.

Exterior personalisation
The new RCZ has many personalisation components:
- A new lacquered black grille bars option, instead of the standard satin chrome bars, to give this new RCZ a different face;
- Three roof arch colours: Aluminium, Sand or the new Matt Black;
- A new ‘Black Pack’ groups together the new Matt Black arches and black grille bars with black brake callipers, and black exterior mirrors, are components which are all also available separately;
– Three new types of bodywork Decals: a wide gloss black central stripe crossing the vehicle, grey and red lateral stripes on the body sills bearing the word ‘RCZ’, a silver grey off-set stripe crossing the vehicle from front to back;
– Two Carbon Roof options with a Matt or Satin finish;
– Ten alloy wheel designs, including two new designs:
– Sport model has 18" wheels and are available in three colours; Classic (standard), Dark Grey (two-tone diamond/dark grey) or Full Pirit Grey (mid grey);
– 19" Sortilège wheels (GT models) are available in three colours; Classic, Midnight Silver (dark grey) and Matt Black Onyx;
– 19" Solstice wheels are available in 2 colours, Anthra Grey (two-tone diamond/dark grey) or Matt Black Onyx (two-tone diamond/black)
- Two new 19" alloy wheel designs, Technical, two-tone diamond, modern and sculptural, available in two colours Grey (dark grey) and Héphaïs (mid grey)
– A Sports Pack, standard on the Sport and GT with the THP 200 petrol engine, includes a smaller diameter steering wheel, a shorter gear lever and the ‘Sound System’ feature are also available as an option on the THP 156 manual model.

Of course it's not a new box! That would be ridiculously expensive to make just for this model alone!

Furthermore if you want technical specs the gearbox is called BE4/6 and i think it's that very box in all of PSA's 6 geared petrol cars.

I looked for the specs Tomas, BE 4/6 is a 206/306 gearbox :eusa-think:

Now I'm planning on ordering the Sport HDI Diesel variant - so if I spec the sports pack presumably there will be no 'sound system' feature as it is only an option on the THP 156 manual model? So I will only get the shorter stick and the smaller wheel? Is this correct? Does that mean that the sports pack will be cheaper on the Diesel version as a result?

Sorry for banging on about the spec here but information seems scarce and the dealership doesn't know, so I need to know what I may or may not be ordering!!!

Great news. To be honest I had the same conversation at the dealership where I've ordered the facelifted model. I wanted the Sport Pack but the sales man wasn't sure what this contained, despite me telling him. He insisted on getting a technician to come and explain what was included.

Well not entirely
BE4/5 is for 206
BE3/6 is for 306 GTi, otherwise BE4/5 aswell

You might be right about the MCM tho. Not really keeping check of the newest cars's boxes, i just read some speculation on another Peugeot forum that the 308/RCZ had a BE4/6, but okay

All of those use the same box as the RCZ i.e the MCM-6.
