Short journey and dpf clogging

Hi was wandering if anyone can help we keep getting warning of risk of particle filter clogging which I read can b caused by short journeys problem is my wife is the 1 that takes it to work but her journey is only 3 miles a day would she be better getting rid if this is going to cause a problem with the filter

Take it a road where you can drive above 40 mph for over 20 minutes.
It has to attain a prolonged temperature in order to recycle the dpf and has to have so much flow (pressure and heat) through the exhaust to be able to burn the material at the dpf.

The HDi is more suited to longer distance driving so the dpf filter can get hot enough to do its magic. A 3 mile commute is not going to be long enough. I would recommend a regular blast on a motorway or you will have issues. A 3 mile commute would be more suited to the thp petrol engine.

Even with a thp i wouldnt run a car for 3 miles each way, modern cars and especially direct injection petrol and diesels with dpf's dont like short journeys. Easier getting a bus or walking tbh

I told her to walk but didn't go down well lol I have now used it a couple of times to work as I do a 60 mile round trip and now seems to be ok

Hi, you want to try and ride a bicycle over here on UK roads and take your life in your hands! :lol: :lol:

The U.K. Drivers aren't as switched on sharing the Roads with cyclists (probably too busy looking out for speed cameras!)
