service dilema main delear or cheap local garage

my THP 200.(petrol manual).has missed a full service last service was on 18k and only oil/filter change/now on 34k..now do I pay for a full Peugeot main dealer service of £279,00 inclusive fuel filter/oil/filter change/air filter/spark plugs/and compete engine flush*was recommended....mte get rid on warning(engine fault needs repair message ) although that has disappeared for now..or do I go to my local mot garage round the corner and if I supply the Peugeot parts they do it for £50.....I need to know if the service is due message has to be cleared also thanx for any advice!!

its a dilemma indeed. you have to weigh up the odds when it comes to selling on your Z, will the full Peugeot service make it worth more money? or will the money saved by going to an indy counteract the re-sale of your Z without a full Peugeot service?

personally, i would go down the Peugeot service route. but that's just my opinion.

Most independent dealers can clear any "service" messages, and I as with all things, some of them will do a better job than pug dealers, some will be worse.
If you have a reliable garage you have used before, I would probably stick with them, but you do have to consider the service history at resale.
I assume it is now out of warranty, as non pug service would invalidate that.

Keep posting how you get on. It's an issue we all face.

Please note that independant garages using approved parts ( dont have to be genuine parts) can service your car without invalidating warranty....see " block - exemption" Many many IMT's offer a vast reliable and conciencious service to the public over and above a dealer, I have supplied both all my life and been on the "shop- floor", trust me. That is not to say as always there's good and bad in both.
What the dealer scores with is the....service book stamp...over-important to many buyers....

I find most people don't care if it's a dealer service or an indy service as long as it's a service.

getting rid of the service spanner in the dash is easy.

Turn OFF the ignition.
Press and hold the trip meter button the one that reset the miles.
Turn on the ignition, don’t start the engine.
Keep the trip meter button pressed down for about 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds the display will change in something like this “= O″.
Release the trip meter button.
Turn OFF the ignition.
Turn the ignition on and check if the warning light was reset.

thanx for reply. I have decided to go to my local garage round the corner ....but what I have done is ordered the genuine Peugeot parts from a Peugeot garage, I explained I needed a full service and was having it done by my local garage they have let me have the parts @ trade price...£50 off retail price . so I am getting the parts for £85.00..and then service done for £50.00..result plus I trust my local garage they will stamp my service book and I will have the invoice of what has been done... its better than paying £250 @ main dealer then a payment of courtesy car a pain,, so using my local garage 5 min walk from home with genuine Parts..
