Serious oil leak

So my cars now 2 year old and have had no problems till now. So time to find out what the local Peugeot dealer service is like. The engine oil level warning light has come on and I've put 3 litres in and it's still on and there nought registering on the dip stick. Can't see any sign of a leak but it's going somewhere so there closed today so have to ring 2 Moro fingers crossed its nothing serious but don't look good. And judging by some horror stories doing the rounds about useless service departments this could seriously speed up my move to VW or back to BMW. So Peugeot do a good job and I might stay longer any fanning about and I'm of ski ;)

I wonder if the undertray is hiding the leak. When my 508 went for service, the garage reported that the bolts on the undertray had seized and they couldn't remove the tray to check if there was a leak. Thankfuly it wasn't loosing any oil so I didn't need to worry too much about it. That might explain why you can't find a leak, but it's loosing it.

Three litres and not showing on dip stick :wtf: That would certainly worry me as a non mechanic. Sounds to me like it's going somewhere it shouldn't rather than a leak. But then I know nought about engines, it's just my thoughts. Wish you well Big Mac

3 litres and still nothing on the dipstick? That's scary, I would expect the total oil capacity to be 4-4.5 litres. I take it your coolant is not showing signs of contamination and there's no excess/blue smoke from the exhaust? If there's no sign of leaks in the engine bay you may have a leak that's spraying directly to the ground and only when the engine is running. Fingers crossed the dealership sort it quickly and there's been no engine damage.

So they've come and collected my car from my work and will hopefully have it back in couple of hours. There words if it's not a quick fix they'll leave me a courtesy car in the works car park can't complain about that so far do good.

Had mine serviced and an oil change.

When I got it back I checked the dip stick and mine looked empty too, on closer inspection the oil is that thin that it is very hard to see the level when its been changed. (5W 30 I think)

Hope your leak isn't to bad but to lose 3 litres you would definitely have a show somewhere as its supposed to be a sealed system and I don't think it has a partial oil loss system.

Either that or loads of white smoke when you start the engine up !

Good luck mate let us know the results

So cars fixed big panic over nothing faulty oil level sensor which they'll change at next weeks service. And seemingly the tube for the dip stick was bunged hench not getting any reading on it. As a result I've over filled the engine with oil which they've drained and refilled and left me a 2 litres of oil as I used all mine. Can't complain about that good service from a Peugeot dealer now that's not a first but surprising and they hoovered the car as it was full sand after weekend by the sea. :) happy chappy. Oh no charge either.

Brilliant news on both fronts. Good experience (so no need to change marque) plus no major fault either. Happy days
