SD Card woes

Trying(in vain) to get my SD Card to read. I have formatted to (FAT) as the manual seems to suggest but the Media section of the screen does not recognise it at all - can anyone help? (I am convinced it is me, not the machine). Does it matter if it is an SDHC card?

Daft reply here...

Does the SD Card plug directly into the car? Or is it plugged in through some sort of USB adapter?

If it plugs in through an adapter it could be that the card cannot be mounted as it is no longer a primary device, the adapter would be seen as the primary device (with no storage of it's own) and the SD Card then seen as a secondary device.

The car software may only be able to recognise primary devices.

If the car has an SD Card slot, my reply is redundant!

When formatting it did you select MBR (master boot record)?
Which format did you choose, FAT 16 or FAT 32?

Thank for those thoughts. In reply, the sd card slot is direct input, not via an adapter. I assume all models have this don't they? As for format, I did not know ther was a choice between fat 16 and fat 32. I will try that......Hoping I can get it working soon as loading cd's into the jukebox seems to take ages...running out of inboard tunes....

Sorry. The NG4 is the name of the stereo /Sat Nav system in your car. Since the facelifted RCZ was introduced this has been replaced with the RT6.

Can't really help with the fat and fat32 but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you with this.

With win7 just open windows explorer find your drive (for the SD Card) right click on it and select format.

The next pop up window should have several drop down boxes just choose the required settings.

or you can do it by DOS.

Click Start
Click Run
Type cmd and then press enter or OK
type format /? (to see all options)

to format you card would be something similar to

format e: /FS:FAT32 /v:Tunes /C /A:1024

This gives you Drive E will be formatted (change to the letter of your drive)
It will be formatted as FAT32 (change as required)
It will have a label of Tunes (change as required)
It will be quick formatted
it will have allocation unit size of 1024 (change as required)

or leave off the options if not required
