Yes, a scirocco is an ordinairy golf with some beating on the head to make it lower. The RCZ is a design miracle and drives so much better than a golf/scirocco. Sporty but a lot more comfortable.

Scirocco is a "hot" hatch, while the RCZ is a real coupe.

I have to be honest here, the RCZ hands down kicks the Scirocco into touch in the looks department but the Scirocco is a far more engaging car to drive (depending on the engine). That said the Scirocco diesel variant engine is completely lacklustre and feels totally lacking in power. If you're looking for a diesel the RCZ HDI is FAR superior. The Scirocco R and TSI are infinitely superior to drive and will leave an RCZ behind both in handling and power but if you're after a stunning car, a good diesel engine and a car with head turning looks then look no further than the RCZ.

Consider build quality, component part quality and reliability of both makes / models and make your choice from there

Also, just as a thought, what can you fit in the boot of the VW (nothing !!) and HOW HIGH is the boot sill, the Golf is lower !
Sit in and try to see out of the rear window in the VW then do the same in the RCZ :)

Anyway there are hundreds of them everywhere u go. I had a test drive in 1 and liked it but u'll need to go for the 2 litre turbo petrol version  the smaller turbo and supercharged 1 sounds like a bag of spaners falling down stairs

Yup, has to be the 2L or larger.

You really can't see a thing out the rear window of the Scirocco!!

Flash, maybe you should look at a Hyundai Veloster that's a bit like a Scirocco

Why would you want something a "bit like a scirocco"? Either have one or don't. I know that someone will raise the RCZ being "a bit like a scirocco" but I really don't think they're as similar as some suggest. The Hyundai is inferior in every way.

in this segmetn nothing can compete with the RCZ in terms of design. Reliability its something else. But anyway every manufacturer have his problems.

I had a scirocco behind me at the lights near the supermarket today and as I looked up to check my rear view mirror I saw the driver doing the double bubble wave to his passenger.
I bet he wished he had an RCZ not a squat golf!! The bubble roof is designed by Zagato !! what on a scirocco is designer by anybody other than heir otto!

the rcz roof has not been designed by Zagato but inspired by zagato. Its a bit of a difference, the rcz has been designed all in house by peugeot designers. Do not forget that the underpining is all based on the 308. But design wise the RCZ is unbeatable at this price.

The "double bubble wave"...I like this! I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this exchanged by driver and passenger from my rear view mirror.

I had a Scirocco 2.0 TSi before the RCZ (Sports 156). Looks are subjective, the Scirocco looks fantastic IMO but compared to the RCZ is a bit safe. The RCZ has far more interesting design features.

The build quality of the Scirocco was superior, it felt extremely well bolted together where as my RCZ is already feeling a little "looser" in some areas. The interior in the Scirocco was brilliant, perhaps a bit boring in design but other than that was top class IMO, better than the RCZ's.

I did test drive a 200 RCZ and the Scirocco still felt faster, I guess the increased engine capacity helps. Handling-wise the Scirocco is far better than the RCZ. I had absolute confidence that the Scirocco would handle whatever I threw at it, and it did. Whereas I do feel lacking in confidence in the RCZ at times. The ride is firmer in the RCZ (although the Scirocco had different selectable suspension settings which helped) yet I don't feel it handles well enough to justify the ride.

Reliability - only 2 issues with the Scirocco in 2 years/72,000 miles - a vibrating wing mirror glass at high speed and a new inlet manifold required. Both sorted under warranty. Already in the RCZ it's had a new thermostat (after 1,000 miles), it may have developed the timing chain issue and has noisy wing mirrors as well, in 7 months/24,000 miles.

All IMO. I know some people seem to hold the RCZ on a pedestal which is expected on an owners forum, thought I'd provide a more balanced view.
