Just heard from my dealer he says............

Hi Ron,

Your system is WIP com 3D (NG4) and the upgrade for that system is £196.00

Cheers

Richard Morrison
Director ASM

This appears to suggest that Peugeot Customer Service do not give out correct/accurate information. I shall see what happens and report back as I have given him the go ahead

What joy I had at my dealers for several hours this afternoon, trying to understand the update for the sat nav.

Well guess what - it's still not sorted.

According to the update sheet the the parts department have my system is a "RNEG" system, but Peugeot has my car down as a RT6 model, which when you look in the owners manual it is. But according to the update sheet the RT6 has a centre knob (like the RT6) but only has 2 buttons either side (RT6 actually has 4 buttons either side), the one that looks like mine as called RNEG.

Well for that there are 2 different updates
1) for the RT6 - this gives it a 6 digit Postcode (this is 129+vat)
but you also need an software update disc to enable it to read the new sat nav software depending on the version already installed.
a) SOFTWARE CD v2.37 (part number P9691737180 - £7.18+vat)
b) SOFTWARE CD v2.77 (part number P9691559180 - £7.41+vat)
c) SatNav update (part number PLGBVAR0951 - £129+vat)

2) for the RNEG - this gives it a 7 digit Postcode (this is 141+vat)
but you also need an software update disc to enable it to read the new sat nav software.
a) SOFTWARE CD (part number P9679221680 - £0.02+vat)
b) SatNav update (part number PLGBVAR0924 - £141.66+vat)

So sent this pic to the parts department will see what comes back.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get this info long press the setup button, then choose the unit description.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The screen is saying I have a RNEG system at version 2.75.

The query came when the parts guy said I would need the v2.37 update as mine was not either, so I asked well would the update take it to the version stated on the update ie take mine from 2.75 to 2.37? Oh he said I see where you are coming from, I'll have to go back to Peugeot and clarify.

Also he will clarify which system I have and if need be get the update sheet corrected.

Then I can get the correct software CD update and the Sat Nav update ordered.

OK, Chris - here's my tuppence h'apennies worth.

I have a unit that looks exactly like the one in your photo. It is in a car that was built at the beginning of April this year & it reports it's software version as RNEG 2.80. For the price, it seems worth ordering the RNEG update disk, whether you need it or not if you want to take advantage of the post code update.

Very well done for capturing this level of detail, by the way. Most useful.

I'll make some enquiries with my dealer also. Some of you may have noticed my recent request for help on TMC messages & I'm wondering what - if - any connections there might be. Mines booked in next Friday for them to look at it, so I'll feed them this info. early next week and see what they make of it.

I'll also report back on the outcome.

Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but....

This morning I successfully input my full 7 digit postcode into my sat nav.

This confirms the full postcode functionality is available for RT6 units running RNEG software at or after 2.80.

Obviously, I don't know what version it came in with but it would seem a worthwhile upgrade for a £0.02 disk. Perhaps someone with a new-ish NG4 might tell us if they have full postcode capability?

In case any one is wondering, I personally wouldn't expect a map update to be absolutely necessary. The map data comes from only a few base sources so, since other sat navs have had this for ages, I would expect it to be in ours - just inaccessible.

Based on this, my personal suggestion would be to upgrade the software first if you want/need postcode capability and see how you go. You can always get the map update later.

All I need to do now is sort out my TMC message question but that's for another thread....

I don't believe that any new RCZ's are coming out with the NG4 installed anymore, I believe it changed to RT6 with the face lift. Not sure either if we can lay our hands on the disc as I keep being told that it is a workshop job. Will see if mine gets done this week and if I can have the discs that I have payed for. (£196 and I don't even use the car at the moment :eusa-think: )

Update from my dealer.

Good afternoon Mr North

I have had clarification from Peugeot regarding the navigation unit fitted to your car.

The unit is a RT6 system which has been fitted in production since November 2012, this differs from the older Rneg version which had a SD slot where yours has the Bluetooth logo.  The software in the unit has not been updated to reflect the name change and I have notified Peugeot of this.

The correct part number for the software update is 9691559180 and the latest European mapping disc is Q1 2014 which contains enhanced features including safety camera update, further details can be seen at:

 http://www.navigation.com/RCZ_2013_RT6/WIP-Nav--Europe-Peugeot-Alert-Zone-2014-1-Edition/peugeot-eu/product/T1000-22027P/en_GB/EUR/

If you need any further assistance please give me a call

Kind regards

Going to ask about system updates

Update

(I first updated the RT6 unit with a firmware upgrade) (see earlier post on this thread)

I have just updated the sat nav map software for my RT6 unit.

I bought the USB stick from the following link

http://www.navigation.com/RCZ_2013_...on/peugeot-eu/product/T1000-22027P/en_GB/GBP/

It has updated the maps, but you have to do one at a time.

It took :-
Italy -20 minutes
France - 30 minutes
Spain & Portugal - 25 minutes
Benelux - 20 minutes
UK - 20 minutes
Scandinavia - 25 minutes
Germany - 25 minutes
Middle Europe - 15 minutes
Southern Eastern Europe - 15 minutes
North East Eastern Europe - 20 minutes
North West Eastern Europe - 25 minutes

Then inserted the Risk Area alerts disc - a few minutes (really quick)

Then tested the post code, and I can now do a full 7 digit postcode search. :D

That is an awful long time for mapping updates. How much fuel did you use?

I'm sure it can be done safely while driving (as it requires little interaction), which is how I do it for my NG4, so that it requires no extra fuel. The same holds for uploading music. However for that I would recommend to not use the car system for ripping but instead do that on a PC and arrange the ripped music on a large USB stick (or for NG4 SD card) so that there is no need for copying and for ease when changing cars.

Can we update the original NG4 to allow for full postcode input. ?
This is my only gripe with the NG4

Apparently so, my dealer says yes and has ordered the disc to do so, however it did not arrive in time and so I'm thinking that it will get updated this week. However Peugeot Customer Care say that it cannot be. So I await developments and will give a full report when I get the definitive answer

I don't know, probably just a couple of gallons, did 130ish miles,
but it was a joy to drive whilst doing, turning off when coming up to stationary traffic, heading into the unknown roads, taking a left or right and then realising **** can't use sat nav whilst it's updating, oh well I'll just have to keep going along these lovely country roads!
Stopping in villages for a coffee breaks, getting back in the rcz entering the code for the sat nav, possibly re - doing the one I was part way through because I had switched off before it finished ! DOH! :brickwall:

Just to let you know mine is a 2013 model.

The firmware disc (which take it to version 2.80) is available if anyone one wants it.
Can this be uploaded to this forum for people to download?

At least you unlike me make good use of the time. I tend to leave my car engine running and go back indoors. So I worry that it is not doing my HDi any good ticking over for so long. This next update will be done at the dealers by them. It would have been done already had the discs arrived in time, but alas they didn't and then both my dealer and I were both off of work and so he had to bring my car back without the update being done. I'm hoping that he will collect my car this week and get the updating done ready for my visit to Peterborough at the weekend.

Ron.
is this new update a follow on of the updates that you and I have done to our original NG4's, if so what does this new update change apart from the postcode input, ie ; what happens to the maps and camera alerts ?

Also did your dealer give a price for the discs and installation . :eusa-think:

Any advice appreciated.

As this thread is discussing updates to different systems, (RT6 & the NG4) so some owners may start to get a little confused.

I believe that I was quoted £194, which includes mapping updates too. Will confirm all details once it's completed

Just heard from my contact at my Peugeot dealer. He is to collect Pearl2 on Tuesday evening and so I'll be in a position to confirm the details of this upgrade and it's suitability to the NG4 WIP COM 3D. I reckon by next week I shall have full UK postcode compatibility
