This Friday is Tia2's 1st service.

I have been made aware of an update to the sat nav to make it equivalent to the new cars coming out (EG Snowy87's).

I have been in touch with Peugeot UK HQ to see if I could get it as a free update.
Unfortunately I was told no as it's a product enhancement and told it would be £120.

It has to be better than the current 5 digit postcode.

I will let you know how it works out.

What exactly have you heard is available? Mapping updates that are quite expensive because they are only available for the whole of Europe and not just the UK or a software update which in the past have cost literally pennies?

A mapping update is not going to have any effect on the five digit postcode situation and the newer models still have issues with UK postcodes. So I'm confused as to what is available and what exactly it does for £120. My last mapping update cost more like £170

I believe that it is a program update (like going from win XP to win7).
This should also have the latest maps.
I have also asked for the safety camera updates as well.

Anyone know how to find what version number I have for sat nav?

Can you find out for on screen or is it a plug in a computer job?

This all sounds rather strange to me as the mapping is done by Navteq and the software by Peugeot. So really unsure what you are getting. I would be very interested to know though. You can find out what your software version and mapping version is via the menu in the car. I'm not in mine right now so can't give exact details

Time for an update.

Well 1st service for the RCZ was a bit of a disaster, appointment was for 2:30pm and it was waiting appointment.

Had booked on-line through the MyPeugeot website, using my car's reg etc and chose the dealer where I bought the car from, on the website they had quoted £110 for the scheduled service.

But when I got there the service department was telling me that the website was for car outside of their warranty for that price, and that the service would cost 250-300 (I can't remember the exact amount).

Asked what the service included, they said oil & oil filter, fuel filter and pollen filter.
I showed them the service book and relevant pages for fuel (4 years or 20k/25k) and pollen filters (2 years / 20k).

Mine had only done less than 10,900 miles.

So after to-ing and fro-ing of the service team leader I finally spoke to the service manager, who was still trying to get me to pay the revised figure of £191 just for oil & oil filter as well as other things listed the service schedule (not fuel or pollen). This is still on-going at the moment.

But they didn't take my car round to begin the service until after 4pm (1.5hrs after I arrived).

They returned my car after 5:30pm, explaining that the sat nav update had not been downloaded as it was a long process (10 hrs worth) and that I could do it myself.

Finally left the dealer's just before 6pm.

Spoke to Peugeot UK HQ today and the contacted the dealer (parts dept) to enquire on my behalf about the six digit postcode update - reported back to let me know that it is a program update to include six digit postcode and also a map upgrade.

Going back in on Thursday or Friday to resolve if there is any outstanding bill (I paid the £110 - £20 service voucher from MyPeugeot website), so I will see what they say to me about the sat nav update as well.

Will update on how this progress later.

Still loving the car though
Chris

Please get the part number for this update disc and details of exactly what it is for. It sounds too good to be true that it will update both system and mapping. Without the part number the rest of us will probably struggle to get our dealers to know what it is that we are after

Cheers

I spoke with Peugeot Customer Services today about this. What I was told is that Navteq are supplying the upgrade disc through the Peugeot dealerships. So it does include mapping and full post functionality for UK postcodes. However

This upgrade will not be effective for too many RCZ owners as the radio needs to be compatible to accept it. Radios capable of accepting it were available prior to the upgrade disc, therefore cars built between approx Nov 13 - March 14 fall into this category. Thereafter all the RT6 radios will be supplied with full UK postcode functionality.

The cost of this upgrade is approx £130 and takes approx 1 hour to upload. Which isn't a bad price when you consider what Navteq charge for the mapping alone. (I believe I paid £170 a couple of years back) Anybody who wants this needs to allow 3/5 for the disc to be supplied to your dealer. (presumably to be shipped direct from Holland)

The above is true for the "Smeg" radio too that appears in other Peugeot models.

So, Ron, do you have the part number for this item?

I'm on the case. Awaiting a call from my dealer as he thinks that he can get mine upgraded whilst she is having her MOT next week. Going on the latest info, I won't be holding my breath.

I really should have asked the question shouldn't I. but we got sidetracked.

I retract my statement that the price seems reasonable. I have just checked. The latest mapping currently available was updated 4th quarter of 2012 and is selling for £129 a newer version ie produced 4th quarter 2013 must be about due for release and that will cost closer to £200. So what new mapping are cars manufactured between Nov 2013 & March 2014 actually getting? None, would be my answer as this is the mapping currently installed.

Why only those cars built between those dates? Why not all RT6 systems ?

Just wanted to ask the question.

The radio needs to have the hardware capable of being updated and these were only installed into cars roughly during that time span. I was told that I would need to buy a whole new radio to get the UK postcode capability

My Z was picked up late June 2013 and they have said mine will accept an update.

Pot thickens (info from Peugeot UK HQ).

Basically it will bring the sat nav up-to-date with whats being supplied in the cars now on sale. (in the carbon red models).

I'll be going into my dealers tomorrow (friday 11th) to talk to them about this, so I'll get part number and see what the restrictions are for the update, and whether it can be downloaded and installed that way.

Same source as my information too. I guess it all depends on who you talk to. I shall await and see what my dealer comes back with. to date this is what he has said..............

Hi Ron,

I will come next week and pick up Pearl for MOT, probably Tuesday Night but will confirm nearer time if that’s ok. I am away from the 21st myself so won’t be that week.

In regard to Map update to full postcode, you can get this now through dealer network and cost is from £110.00 Plus VAT.(Depending on Radio model)
The whole update of firmware and software takes on average 1 hour (according to Peugeot) so not sure where 10 hours comes from. If you are interested please can you send me photo of unit fitted to vehicle showing control panel/screen and I confirm price and availability.
