Btw, I actually quite like my RT6. Had issues at first with no postcodes, but once I updated the maps & firmware everything seems to be pretty good. Did have a strange issue once with a postcode in Bradford, but as for the audio spec, it does everything I want it to do, and quite a few things I don't even use.

I don't think you are ever going to get a "top of the range" system fitted as standard in a car, and of course there are many spec differences between "top of the range" systems, so even if one was fitted, you might not get the one that does everything you wanted.
This is why manufacturers just fit a "good" system, but let you sort out your own aftermarket speciality units if you are a true audiophile.

I do think for the money, the Sat Nav could have been better, but I think that is a general problem with just about any integral Sat Nav system. When you think, you do get live traffic updates as standard, which is often a "pay per year" option on aftermarket units.

I think the map updates could have been easier and cheaper, but it isn't too difficult to find a work round for that.

All things considered, it certainly doesn't detract from what is an truly awesome car, and if I had to chose between an RCZ with our without the Sat Nav, I would go for the with option every time.

Yeah my women complains I'm indecisive too.

On a serious note though, its strange to see a newer, more advanced unit with worse features than the predecessor.,,

I would say, I highly recommend the RCZ (especially the Type R) but I would not recommend the RT6; save yourself some money and buy a decent sat nav instead. I also wouldn't expect a top end system in it, but RCA's would mean I don't have to rip the whole electronics apart to install after market gear. Beyond that i agree, as i said though, its just weird how the older version worked fine in the same scenarios.

I agree with the majority of your comments here. I've not had any problems with my RT6 system. Full postcode entry, music that I can stream from my phone or via USB, speed camera alerts, etc etc.

As for the Type R, I am loving it! Nero Black, 270bhp. Currently has 2x 12" Alpine SWR-12D, a set of JL Audio C3 component speakers and a set of JL Audio C2 6x9's.

I am waiting for the guy (and my next pay check) to have a new boot build done with a false floor to get to my spare wheel without having to remove the subs.

And yes, i bought a spare wheel....i mean again, seriously.....a gunk machine? Are you mad!!

Oh and if you are thinking of buying a wheel, it wont fit just FYI. The area for it is not deep enough, hence the boot build -.-

I will try to upload some pics at some point.

Can you stop calling it a Type R. It's not a Type R ! I keep thinking you are talking about a Honda when you say that.

It's a RCZ R :)

As you seem technical thought I'd ask. Just bought a new rcz without sat nav but want to fit one any ideas. My last car was the 308cc with sat nav and despite everyone complaining about the postcode entry I loved it and miss having it. :helpme:

:greetings-wavingblue: Welcome :text-welcomewave:

There are a few threads on the forum covering the installation of Sat Nav systems, here's one to get you going

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=9325

I think it is quite a job from what I've read, but it is a worthwhile task. I have the Sat Nav fitted & I use it all the time
(I have a very bad sense of direction  )

You are going to LOVE your new car.

Btw we love pictures on here :eusa-think:

Yes the only solution really is to replace the stereo with a double din unit that has a touch screen satnav built in. Pretty pricey.

However this is not your issue, the real problem is the electronics. a large number of systems run through the stereo such as the analogue clock and the trip computer. Removing the head unit will break these functions (permanently)

There are options though, i have heard of the original unit being mounted under the passenger seat (if you don't have the heated leather electric seats).

I have yet to hear of a perfect solution though, unless one of the links above has cracked it.

Basically if you are looking to upgrade the ICE, expect to spend a great deal of money (i am already at £700 worth of install charges just to add an amp kit, 3 amps and replace all 4 speakers, no that doesn't include cost of speakers/amps!), I've been quoted £1000 to install a £600 head unit and that was an "I think its about 4h" quote so yeah, could be more.
