I am thoroughly enjoying having music in the car 5 weeks after I purchased it
So my review of the system is as follows.
GOOD POINTS:
1: Looks really good and sounds terrific.
2: The screen is clear when browsing stations
3: USB connectivity is nice - I have a memory stick with all my ipod music transferred over so that's in permanently.
4: Gets rid of the cheap orange dash glow (One of my biggest bugbears of the RCZ interior.. WHY!?)
5: Simple Enough to use
6: Sat Nav works reasonably well.
7: Great Point of Interest Search
8: Great how the nav also displays in the instrument panel between the dials
BAD POINTS:
1: Bluetooth streaming - or lack of thereof. Its on the standard stereo so an ommision on what is an "Upgrade" is baffling and I am noticing the difference. The fact Debbie cant change the tune from the passenger seat without strethcing over, interupting navigation etc is a step back in terms of practicality
2: The Sat Nav is not as good as my Garmin unit. For play it was in the top end price bracket when I bought it for my first RCZ but it wasnt a four figure option like the NG4 was and works 10x better for 10% of the price.
3: makes a racket when Its been used for a few hours and you park up. Old school PC Fan style sound. If I want to have both heaters on Hi then I should be able to without having to worry about overheating the unit
4: On more than one occasion its had a restart mid navigation to which it looses memory of what its been upto.
5: No speed camera warning or road speeds marked during naviagtion - im sure it showed it for the brief time I had it when I picked the car up. perhaps its just a setting thats not checked.
Overall im glad I have it working. But in future, if I ever get another RCZ there is no way i'd ever plomp for one with integrated NAV unless the Mk2 is significantly better. The loss of bluetooth streaming is unforgivable in my opinion. I have a £60 Korean head unit i fitted to my MG's in my room and it has more functionality than the NG4.
I've intentionally not mentioned the jukebox I haven't bought a CD for about 8 years.
