Did you have any comeback with the dealership for the state they delivered her in? I am just wondering if it is acceptable for them to deliver a brand new car with swirls or if they should give some compensation - as it has been pointed out on here - it would cost you normally £250+ for the work you and Ron did, and for others who do not have the skills, they would be an extra £250 out of pocket to get a car that actually looks new...

Johnw, I never said anything to the dealer. To the majority of Joe Public, when Ruby was handed over they would have been very pleased with what they saw. To a Detailer, it's a very different thing. I knew that I could correct the swirls and get the car looking pristine. To be honest, the majority of cars on the road have swirls. Most people don't know what they are. Before I discovered detailing swirls were something that I thought you just had to live with and was just one of those things. I had no idea you could remove them. Even with a very careful wash and drying routine, Ruby will still get swirls inflicted on her over time but I will be able to remove them when the time comes. Dealerships just do not have the time to spare to detail a car in the same way as Ron and I did. That's why there is a market for professional detailers.

When I picked Ruby up on Saturday they were only just washing her, dressing the tyres and polishing her hence a rush job, hence polish not being buffed correctly, water marks, etc, etc. Plus, I enjoy the while process of detailing a car from scratch. You get to know every inch of the car and it's also part of the "bonding" process :)

I hope you'll detail the plate as well ...

[...actually I do this with the plates to get dirt and insects removed more easily :eusa-whistle: ...]

Detail the plate...... Not only the plate but the paintwork behind the plate which was all dirty, front and back ;)
I've got photographic evidence.

Dirty

Clean

I can't believe how similar Morroccon is to Amber in the sun. Hopefully we'll be able to compare sparkle in Yorkshire.
Mine is looking really good after using that Werkstat stuff - after I rebuffed it to get rid of the smears :)

I was back at work the last two days after having three days off. I've had countless comments from colleagues and strangers saying what a lovely colour Ruby is. Makes all the hard work Ron and I put in, worthwhile:)

Even caught a Porsche driver having a good look at Ruby :)

On to other news about the leather. Just my luck but the leather got stuck at Customs in China. This was because the leather was sent from Weir leather to Seat Surgeons, who then sent it to China but did not have the usual paperwork with it, which is why it was impounded. Paperwork didn't show that it was coming back out of the country so Chinese authorities were going to destroy it. They maintained that the cut offs were still going to remain in China so after prolonged discussions Seat Surgeons are having to pay £350 to get it out of the country again, including the scraps. Madness or what ! The good news is that it should be through Customs by Monday and it's been marked as an urgent job to be made up so hopefully with no other set backs, should arrive back at Seat Surgeons on Friday. Should be fitted just in time for the Yorkshire Meet (all fingers and toes are being crossed as I type this- which isn't easy to do  )
