There is a rev limiter on cars from 2012 production year at 4000RPM at static, older ones can go to dealer and update Engine ECU and BSI programs.

Why do you need to go over 4k revs when stationary?

Do you sit in Mcdonalds trying to pop your exhaust? ;) (This is intended as a joke...)

You no what , I actually expected that from you, people join forums for info not shit from idiots like your self, in asking genuine questions u have the nack of being rude and sarcastic , when all I asked was the above , if this is how you treat members with questions , than it's not surprising that you don't really have anything interesting to say , other than follow people about talking shit!!
It's ashame that people like ya self think its funny to abuse new members , and the car was brought for a bit of Sunday fun, and something to spend my lose change on, bit old for Mc Donald's , son !

I apologise, I was only jesting :(
I do find it an odd question because I personally have never seen the need to rev my car all the way up to the limiter when stationary.
But im not taking the mick or anything for asking. I was just trying to have a joke.

Again my apologies.

Ell following you around the site you seem to think you no everything their is to no about the car , so this one should have been an easy one ! , I don't sit their revving the guts out of my bit of fun, it came about after picking the car up from having a 3 inch full quad stainless system fitted , and I was comparing it with my other piece of fun, that's when I noticed it wouldn't rev of 4000 rpm when static, so I wondered if anyone else noticed the same issue, or it was the new system ,

Join a friendly forum to see how others spend their Sundays , oh yea, you were having a laugh last nite when I went on the wrong post , BRAKES !!!! Really,,,,,,

Fare play to ya , and as for the revs , I'll guess some one may no the answer , if you don't !
I won't private message you, as I think others should no what you think having a laugh is to some one you don't no , who was trying to be sincere , and asking genuine questions to genuine members ,

Back on topic, then -

I've had both a GT200 and now an R. So far as a can recall and tell, neither of them had/has a static rev limiter, such as you describe.

Now now girls, play nice.

Coldplay, I think it was a genuine attempt at humour, and there has been an apology that you took it more seriously than it appears to have been intended.

There are one or two members that may occasionally post malicious comments, thankfully absent at the moment, but Abzynthe is definitely not one of them.

If it exists (I don't recall ever having had cause to rev quite that hard stationary...I didn't have a performance exhaust :( ), it's likely to be a stationery rev limiter that many manufacturers put in place to protect the engine. In this instance, I also believe that it's likely to be because of the hill start assist that is standard on the RCZs. Again, it would be limited to prevent you over revving the engine. Hope that answers your question.

Lastly, and not wishing to sustain this niggle, I think that Abz was being somewhat light hearted in his remarks regarding McDonald's and revving. I am sorry that you took such objection to his remarks but I don't think that there was any malice behind his remark. Similar remarks are endemic on most car forums. I don't think that chastising him was necessarily required.

Anyway, perhaps we should/can leave this here and move on. I am intrigued by your new exhaust set up! Custom made...? Glad that you're enjoying your car. Any further mods planned?

For a hint of irony to proceedings I tried a little foot to the floor while static at McDonalds at lunch today.

No Limit.

Lot of noise, few dodgy looks and then sheepishly drove off.

mines 2011 though so maybe gen 1's don't have it or as said above it could only be in effect during hillstart.

its an electric throttle body so its certainly plausible that there will be certain scenarios that the car decides to limit throttle position and consequently revs.

Further to the original question, my R was quite happy to hit the rev limit while stationary in neutral on my drive this evening.

this man is very knowledgeable about this car and if you read his posts you would easily see that. i think his post was meant as a joke so accept his apology and be done with it.

Apology gracefully given and gratefully accepted. Thanks Coldplay, it takes a bigger man to accept when he may have been wrong. Well met!!
