Remapping your RCZ (2.0 HDI)

Anyone planning on remapping their RCZ. I know it's early days but just found this on the market. Personally I would wait until Superchips or Bluefin develop their products but might be of interest here.

£395 takes the RCZ from 163 to 191 PS and torque from 340 to 393 Nm

Wow, that looks good :D
You would definatley feel a differance with those figures, the torque figure is the most important, it translates to throttle response.

Very good, a sighn of things too come :cool:

Hope I dont sound thick!!! but....can you remap a petrol engine or can you only do it for diesel engins??

Not something i've looked at for a long time but yes I believe you can remap a petrol, it just doesn't give the same kind of increase it does on a diesel.

Yes you can remap petrol engines. The gains are very limited (around 5%) unless the engine is turbo charged, then expect 15% to 25%. As they are turbo charged with the RCZ expect some interesting gains.

Found this showing gains of 20% to 26% for the 156 equating to 188bhp and 197bhp for not a lot of ££££ http://www.racechip.de/racechip-angebot ... vsdrfu79g2

If you plug a tuning box into one you invalidate the warranty - Peugeot had a big issue with this on HDi 170 engine found in 407's with several going bang due to the changes made by the tuning box.

Peugeot issued the entire network a warning about this. If you remap it there is a good chance it will be overwritten if the dealer does an ecu download when its in for a service and again if they notice the map change the warranty is voided.

It's relatively easy to chip a turbodiesel engine, especially common rail designs. Most chips tend to increase the common rail pressure, though others map the injector timing. An example of the latter ones are the Steinbauer power boxes on the Alfa Romeo multijet diesels.

A word of warning though. The torque levels produced are very high and it is an easy matter to wear out your clutch after a few thousand miles. I had my Alfa GT Q2 fitted with a Steinbauer unit and the clutch went after 10,000 miles. The unit was fitted at 20,000 miles and the clutch started slipping at 30,000 miles. I wouldn't call myself an aggressive or particularly exuberant driver so was surprised by this.

Also fitting such a unit will almost certainly invalidate any engine and drive train warranty.

Its only turbo engines which really benefit from a remap, but as has been said it effectively invalidates the warranty, probably best leaving it until the cars 3 years old

HI Guys - just joinjed your forum
FlashRemapping are an approved Viezu dealer and have had great sucess remapping cars which share the same engine i.e. the citroen ds3
in fact we have a rolling road day on saturday 21st oct in Bromsgrove
We would love to add some rczs to this cars there so we can fully test our maps on these cars on the rolling road
pm if you are interested you would get a discounted remap cost and free dyno runs

I know we're approaching the spooky season of Hallowe'en but time seems to be looping with you...post outgoing Thursday 21st October...rolling road day Saturday 21st October!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

i thoughta lot of the diesel chips or tuning boxes were simply plug in boxes and not remaps.

they could be removed prior to service....

this was soemthing that was not possible on petrol cars which i think always ended to have ecu remaps..( except i think for for the revo units which would flash the ecu over the odbc connection and flash back to stock if rqd)- off topic - i spent a lot of time looking to remap by beetle turbo without any warrenty/insurance issues and failed to find anything like the plug in boxes.

The gubbins in those boxes are just a few quids worth of electronics...

Does anybody know if the mecanics at peugeot can still see if you used a plug-in-box after you unplug it, if not think a lot more people would take the chance.. :dance:

Any Dealer will have diagnostic's to check you'r car's ecu brain :thumbdown: but in theory will only check if engine has malfunction on warraty or complete breakdown,it's a gamble you alone take.
On my previous mk5 Golf Gti that had a Superchips (bluefin) i could download and remove to standard within 5mins and was fine for routine servicing with Vw dealer.
I would go down the bluefin route if they decide to map the 200THP as it's one of the better well tried proven companies,i have used their products for almost 20 years ranging from the early day's with ford to latter Vw's with no issues whatsoever. :wave:

Interestingly Blue Fin has released a kit for the new Mini and DS3 will be on the way soon.

Roll on the RCZ version!

Had no idea,hav'nt checked their site recently,then yes there must be a bluefin on way for RCZ :clap:
