Hi all

Had my car remapped yesterday with expert tuning and thought you may be interested in result. 156bhp went to 193bhp and 180torque went to 210.

I didn't expect to feel to much change in the car but was pleasantly surprised not with speed increase of the car but the way it pulls in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. It really pulls like a train. Up a steep hill where I would have changed down to 2nd gear it will now accelerate in 3rd or 4th gears.

The power delivery is much smoother and builds from low revs right up to high, it used to have a small lag waiting for turbo to kick in that has now gone, power is instant.

I was worried before having it done as I had read some horror stories about remapping, I took along time researching companies to do it. Once I have upgraded the engine components over the next few months I will be back for the stage 2 remap.

Happy Motoring

Chris

Nice one! I had mine remapped and had the same sort of results, amazed at the difference it has made to the car better economy too! I'm now happy with the performance and won't be going to stage 2 new exhaust system next for me.
Look forward to seeing what you think of stage 2

I will have stage 1 remap on monday for my THP 200 :eusa-whistle:

At first i was considering remote remap from http://etuners.gr/ but they are very slow when it comes to communicating so screw them... I will do ECU remap locally  I'm a bit worried and do not expect big difference but we'll see how that goes :)

Just ensure that they copy your original map so they can put it back if they have to. I also got Expert Tuning to give me a copy of my original map.

When I had my remap done recently by Durham Remaps, they told me that the first thing they do is "revert to stock", regardless of what the current ECU settings are.

I presume therefore that there shouldn't be anything to worry about if things go chest protrusions upwards. They can always reset it to manufacturers settings?

So, after remap my RCZ power increased from 147kW to 172kW and torque increased from 275Nm to 340Nm. I paid 300 eur for that but power increase is very noticeable and the car feels more responsive  Specialist, who did remap, said that it is too much power for a front wheel car and i kinda feel that when i try to accelerate fast - my front wheels just don't stay well enough on the road but maybe that's because my summer tyres are in poor condition and need to be changed next season :eusa-think: Next month i will be putting my 18 inch wheels with new winter tyres and see if there is any difference.

Also, after remap my fuel consumption slightly increased (+0.6 l/100km) for long trips. Haven't checked city driving fuel consumption yet :eusa-think:

I guess now that my RCZ is remapped, i will have to change engine oil/spark plugs more frequently :eusa-think:

Overall, i am happy with my remap, it feels good to have more power :)

I also found this article http://www.etuners.gr/peugeot-citroen-t ... icing-101/ and they recommend changing spark gap for engines with a remap:
For engines with a remap, we recommend setting the spark gap to 0.6mm. This will increase spark plug wear but will improve spark power by a lot.
Has anyone done that to their remapped engine?

Stock R's have an extra 40bhp on top of your map, so still plenty before its "too much" ;)

stock r has different setup but still i agree with you

mine with 268hp and (new) p zero tires seems that it can handle 20-30hp more power...

as for the spark plugs i have changed to r's

I have replaced my old tires with brand new ones and my RCZ is much more stable now when accelerating fast so the only issue i was having after remap is gone

With reference to Only AEK's post.

The RCZ-R spark plugs are part number 9677446980
- available at Peugeot or Citroen, not motor factors yet.
Though I've not tried BMW!

Oh and the price is £20.51 each.

I know the citroen DS3-R, Peugeot 308 gti use the same engine as the RCZ-R.

Would have thought a mini would have a high bhp engine.

what the equivalent RCZ engine to the BMW N - engines?

Another thing worth mentioning is the 308 GTI engine requires the plugs changed at 15k intervals. RCZ-R may be the same.

Just going by the R engine code, it led me to the wiki for the Prince engine, which says what models use this type of engine, including the R. It also said it was BMW N engines between 13 and 18
