Re: RCZ1, you naughty devil!!
Hi all' :greetings-wavingblue:
speedos in cars as well as on motorcycles are not wholly accurate and all generally over read the true speed which is how the manufacturers make them on that side of a prescribed tolerance! Thats why vehicles are taken on 'timing straights' such as Bruntingthorpe by magazines etc to obtain wholly accurate top speeds. "True" and "Indicated" speeds are often shown in motorcycle magazines sometimes at various speeds to indicate that you can't believe everything that the Manufacturer wants you see !!
Yamaha was taken to court for deliberately calibrating the rev counters on the R6 to indicate a higher rev so as to market it as having a higher rev ceiling than the engine was actually capable off!
In respect of "speed" as the indicated speed increases usually the error in true speed increases
Police response and police traffic vehicles have their speedometers calibrated and certified to ensure that the indicated speed is accurate for obvious reasons which is how they are able to calculate the speed of the vehicle they are following/ chasing !!
The generally adopted 10% plus 1 MPH is the standard limit for speeding, so those that say they got done for 35 MPH in a 30 zone means their actual speedo was probably reading around the 40 mark !

The 10% plus 1 MPH of course takes into account a speedometers general tollerance/accuracy.
.the big blue (..treading the thin blue line between within and outside of legal limits) ,,fingers crossed!!!!!
