This is just a consequence of buying any car really.its how you drive it.And of course if you drive anything with performance.you are going to use it at the end of the day.Whats the point in buying it in the first place?Track days lol?.Its the chance you take, and i suspect the polis werent traffic brigade. No proof available or they would do you. A ton gets your licence t aken off you.Traffic polis are the ones that got beat up in the playground and this is their way of comeuppence and even the run of the mill polis dont like them.I didnt post this btw. :eusa-shhh: Get your foot down hen...

Btw, my sat nav flashes the speed symbol red when approaching speed cams too fast. I can be doing @ 44 in a 40 zone and the sat nav is quite happy with that. 45 and above and it gets s bit twitchy, so the 4mph over speed showing on the speedo is possibly about right.

My evidence says it's always 3-4 mph at anything above around 10mph.

If you think back, people reported getting 158mph out of their R, even though it's supposed to be limited to 155.

This would also tally with a 3-4mph offset.

Re: RCZ1, you naughty devil!!

Hi all' :greetings-wavingblue:

speedos in cars as well as on motorcycles are not wholly accurate and all generally over read the true speed which is how the manufacturers make them on that side of a prescribed tolerance! Thats why vehicles are taken on 'timing straights' such as Bruntingthorpe by magazines etc to obtain wholly accurate top speeds. "True" and "Indicated" speeds are often shown in motorcycle magazines sometimes at various speeds to indicate that you can't believe everything that the Manufacturer wants you see !!

Yamaha was taken to court for deliberately calibrating the rev counters on the R6 to indicate a higher rev so as to market it as having a higher rev ceiling than the engine was actually capable off!
In respect of "speed" as the indicated speed increases usually the error in true speed increases :(

Police response and police traffic vehicles have their speedometers calibrated and certified to ensure that the indicated speed is accurate for obvious reasons which is how they are able to calculate the speed of the vehicle they are following/ chasing !!

The generally adopted 10% plus 1 MPH is the standard limit for speeding, so those that say they got done for 35 MPH in a 30 zone means their actual speedo was probably reading around the 40 mark ! The 10% plus 1 MPH of course takes into account a speedometers general tollerance/accuracy.

.the big blue (..treading the thin blue line between within and outside of legal limits) ,,fingers crossed!!!!!
