Following my earlier post, my RCZ has now been off the road since last September.
One day it will start (runs beautifully) ... the next day it wont. So can't use the car just incase I get stuck somewhere.
Everything has been double checked... all fuse boxes etc.
When the car will not start... the car's ''brain'' locks the car in Park.
After multiple diagnostic checks it has been decided that it is the auto gearbox ECU.
As the car is over 10 years old, Peugeot no longer supply the part. (more than the car is worth even if they could supply it).
Getting an used autobox ECU for a 2013 car is also proving impossible.
You have to get the exact part number.... we tried a 'close' match, re-programmed the car and it wouldn't run properly, so had to put it all back as it was.
Any thoughts please? Any idea of scrap value?
It is a beautiful car, white, series 2, 53K, with Peugeot larger special alloys, white leather seats etc..
Thanks for any ideas, Peter.

Have you had a new battery if so have you got the wires tight or it could be down to the battery control unit could be on its way out or have a loose fitting
Hope this helps you out

Hi, thank you. I can assure you we ( my electrician mainly!) have tried just about everything over the last 4 months, We replaced the BCM ( no difference), checked every fuse in all 3 boxes, ...... each time we replace something we have to rest for a week or so..... it may start today (could be coincidence) so we have to try for a week or so after every adjustment. I did have a new battery last summer.... it has clip type clamps, so either on or off.... not tight or lose? The car's 'brain' is telling the car 'something is wrong' and locks the car in Park..... ie. it deems something is dangerous and wont let you start the car, let alone drive it. Until it starts the next time, I just have a ton of dead metal in the drive. Thanks again, Peter.

From what I have read it could be..
The BMS ...... battery management system
The BCU ...... battery control unit
The BCM...... body control module .... or... battery control module
or..... just about any combination of the above initials .... what a load of.... awkwardness.
To replace them all..... if you can get them, would be approx £2500 ... sadly the RCZ may well have to go.

Thank you. I will get the electrician to double check. The electrician can, however, start the car quite easily by putting 2 of those probe/metal spike things across a couple of fuses? So guess that wouldn't work if the battery wasn't connected? We really are at our wits end. Thanks again , Peter
