I had an argument with a black Toyota GT86 all i can say is there's no get up and go in them at all, the poor driver looked really annoyed in my mirror/dust. :)

My Focus is naff on greasy salt laden wet winter roads and torque steers badly, so its no use at this

Although i did get rather pissed off at a audi 3.0 a7 last week on the motorway trying to playing cat&mouse with me, BY THAT I MEAN NOT LETTING ME PASS on the outside lane, but i soon sorted his vorsprung durch technik diesel car out

I agree. Had one at the local dyno not long ago and it made a whopping 30hp and almost 100nm less than the RCZ. Appreciate what Toyota and Subaru tried to achieve and it would've been an epic success had they spent a little bit more time under the hood. (i am thinking honda s2000 kinda outputs if they had to stay NA else anything blown would've been better).

Missing the point with the Toybaru. It's not meant to compete on speed. Just look at the skinny tyres. It's for hooning around without being on the limit. Would be very easy for them to put more power in it if they wanted to.

You are spot on with your assessment but putting on skinny tires to compensate for a lack of power (to enable the sideways action you see in all the promo vids and roadtests) is a little like cutting off the nose to spite the face.

I don't feel that way. If it works it works....

That's not to say i do think the GT86 hasn't got enough power.

I think it was made for the drifting community. It may be underpowered against preferred cars for this sport, but its easily upgraded and the old supras and skylines arent going to last forever.
I like the looks of it, but it looks a bit boring to me.

I guess if you look at it as a "blank canvas" then it works. But still not a car I would spend money on. Maybe when they release the STI BRZ but that will cost RCZ R money....

Yeah, why spend millions developing an engine thats just going to be rebuilt from the ground up lol.

It also appeals to people that want a sporty looking car, but easier to handler....A bit like the RCZ diesel I suppose lol

This video was taken during a track day on the race circuit in Zolder (Belgium). "Vroemdag" is the name off the event and you drive around with metal handicapt children. This video was taken out of a Porsch Boxter. After 40 sec you will see my RCZ. In the next corner did't close the door and 1.9 GTI passed me but in the straight I set things wright ;)

How did you find your Z on the track? I absolutely loved mine on the track and scared quite a few much larger much faster cars!

It was during a track day and I just watched a lot of movies on you tube of the particular event (Vroemdag 2013)

The tyres arent an after thought to compensate for a lack of power. They were part of the plan in the first place. If I want to drift round corners it's at license surrendering speeds. With the GT86 you can do it easily, without having to go crazily fast to do it. That was the point of the car in the first place. It's a hark back to the likes of the Mk1 MR2. I had one of these. Only had a 1.6 engine it and about 150bhp I think, but it rev'd like a motorbike and still ranks as one of the best cars I've ever had.

It's not always all about BHP or 0-60 times.

So back to the topic, went to go fetch the RCZ from the dealer on friday, on my way home i find myself next to a 2004 lotus elise (non-supercharged - if i remember right they had the asthmatic 1.8 Toyota Run X engine). We are rolling in 1st at about 30 kph towards a set of lights that are about to go green. As they go green I am on the throttle ahead of the lotus and pull 1 car length, hook 2nd (with a surprising amount of wheelspin - guess she is loosening up rather nice) and pull another 1/2 a car and by the end of 3rd i was about 2 cars ahead.
