RCZ Sold

So it is with some sadness that I announce that I have sold my RCZ. After two and a half wonderful years and trouble free motoring I have decided to trade it in for a 2014 Peugeot 208 GTi. I went into the dealer last week
for a look and after two extensive test drives I have managed to get a really good deal on my RCZ. I figured that with 90k miles and a lot of upcoming work required, full service, 4 tyres, timing belt and water pump, brakes etc, it was a good time to pass it on. Anyway, I will still be hanging around here so I won't be going too far. For all those thp owners I'm sure I will have questions for you lot at some point :eusa-whistle:

Oh renegade that it sad news. It was always a pleasure to see you at the Yorkshire Meet and such a great sense of humour. Maybe you could still come in your GTI?

Thank you. I have always enjoyed the Yorkshire meets and even though I sold my RCZ I am still in the Pug family so I will probably still make the trip albeit at the back of the bunch maybe!!

I don't see this as the end for my love of the RCZ though, because someday I do want an R so the GTi is merely a gap year until then!!

92 LED bulbs (front DRL) - never used
Sports steering wheel (alcantara)
Front brake pads to fit 340mm discs (black diamond) - never fitted
RCZ door light logos - never fitted.

Sad day, but a bright new future in another quick Pug. Glad your sticking round on here anyway. Keep an eye open for that R so you can join us properly again, but will probably see you at the next Yorkshire meet.

Ps pm me with your details for the RCZ door lights. I wanted some, but the OH thought they were about as useful as the quads I want, so if I get them from a buddy instead of a shop, I might get away with it.

Picked up my new car yesterday, thought I'd share some photos: it needs a proper detail (exhaust very sooty unheard of in my diesel RCZ) but for the moment here are a few from my phone.

I discovered some flecks of what looks like yellow paint blotches on rear quarter panel and some on the front drivers alloy. I'm not sure what it is but I'm hoping it will come off given the right treatment.

I absolutely love it. That thp engine is so nice and the power is immense bearing in mind the 208 GTi only weights 1140kg. Moving back to a petrol car from a diesel also took some getting used to, but not for long.

The car pulls well in all gears and it's crazy how quickly you can be pushing the boundaries of the motorway speed limit! The ride is very good and it feels a solid and planted car even at motorway speeds despite its low kerb weight. The 17 inch wheels make the ride extremely smooth and I will have no problem negotiating speed humps any more.

The seats are exceptionally comfortable and I could easily envisage long journeys with no backache.

Things I wont miss with my RCZ; replacing the 19" Michelin tyres, the sheer width of the car and taking a deep breath as you meet another car on a narrow road, I also won't miss the bad attention it got as Several times I came back to my car and discovered some clown has thrown minerals or fast food over it. This has happened to me quite a bit outside work, one downside to parking so far away from the front door of the office. Don't get me wrong I loved the positive attention that the RCZ received but I also worried a lot that if I left it in a car park for the day that when i come back the car will be vandalised. The ride levels in the RCZ were also quite hard and you did feel every bump and it absolutely despised speed humps.

The GTi is really subtle and receives very little attention (other than the hardened Pug fan). That makes me think that I could park it for the day and no one will notice it or try to damage it. And the smile factor is still there because it is such a nice car to drive!! In winter I will miss my heated seats though.

Had a sit in one today at the dealership while they were servicing my car. It did look very nice inside, and the seats were really comfy.

Of course I was descended upon almost immediately by a grinning idiot asking "how does it feel"? I did contemplate letting him try to sell me one for half an hour or so, but the service manager came over and "wanted to speak to me about my RCZ" grinning idiot left looking slightly embarrassed, heading towards the coffee machine :lol:

Unfortunately, the Service guy wanted to tell me my front two tyres were illegal so not such a good interruption after all. (I did try to point out that they were good enough for Lewis Hamilton, but he didn't really see the funny side).

Very nice car though. I would imagine it does feel very different to drive from your Z. I was very impressed with the interior :thumbup:
